After just announcing that Orlando Bloom would be part of a new Priyanka Chopra movie, “Reset,” he has decided to step away. There has been no clear reason for this decision as of yet, but it puts the movie in jeopardy.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star was all set to both star and co-produce “Reset” all the way through pre-production. Just as the cameras were about to start rolling, he exited the project, leaving the remaining cast and crew scrambling to replace him.
What Is ‘Reset’ About?
Getty“Reset” will follow Chopra in the lead as a woman who wakes up in the wilderness with absolutely no memory of how she arrived there. As she wakes and gets an understanding of her surroundings, she comes across a stranger, and she needs to trust him if she wants to survive the climate. However, it turns out that this stranger may not be everything he claims to be.
Bloom was set to play the stranger. As it’s an indie film, landing a major actor like Bloom was key to landing international support. In fact, the project originally got financed because Bloom and Chopra were attached to it, and the producers were relying on him to help get international distribution. The team immediately started the search for a new star to replace him, and so far, there are three actors. It’s important to land an actor in a timely manner to keep the project on track.
TMZ reports that Chopra will get the final say over her new co-star. No names have been given as to who the project is looking at to help get it off the ground.
Orlando Bloom’s Exit Mirrors ‘De Noche’
GettyThis isn’t the first time an actor has stepped away from a role at the last minute. This happened in 2024 with “De Noche,” which was originally going to star Joaquin Phoenix. However, he dropped out of the queer romance, with many citing “cold feet” as the reasoning, and the project was ultimate shut down for a year.
In the end, Pedro Pascal took on the leading role. Filming for the project started in March 2026, and eyes are now on when the movie will come out. It appears the “Reset” producers are trying to avoid history repeating itself, as they scramble to find another leading man. After all, shutting down a project can lead to millions of dollars being lost.
The “Lord of the Rings” star most recently starred in a Prime Video movie, “Deep Cover,” where he was one of three struggling actors who go undercover and have to rely on their improv skills to stay in character and not get caught. However, it turns out that a simple task to trap a shop owner in selling counterfeit products becomes a much bigger drug bust situation that isn’t even on the books!
He has recently completed work on “Wizards!” but that doesn’t have a release date as of yet. He’s also working on “Bucking Fastard,” from Werner Herzog, which is set to debut at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.
