Food Network Host Delivers the PERFECT Holiday Cocktail

Food Network’s Wells Adams has taken to social media to deliver what he considers to be the perfect holiday cocktail.

Adams is the host of “Sweet Empire: Winter Wars” — a Food Network competition show on which 14 talented bakers compete in holiday-themed dessert challenges at the festive Yuletide Lodge.

The 41-year-old, who is famously married to actress Sarah Hyland, is also known for being a contestant on “The Bachelorette” and “Bachelor in Paradise,” before he became the beloved bartender on the latter.

It’s unsurprising, therefore, that he knows what he’s talking about when it comes to making (and drinking) cocktails.

Wells Adams Believes the Perfect Christmas Cocktail Is an Old Fashioned

In a 102-second video, which can be found on both Wells Adams’ Instagram and the Food Network’s official account to their combined 14.1 million followers, Adams explains that the ideal cocktail for the holiday season in an Old Fashioned.

Adams says he’s going to teach viewers how to make it, emphasizing that it’s both his favorite and his wife’s favorite, before saying he has a theory that the best cocktails all have three main ingredients or less.

In the case of the Old Fashioned, those three main ingredients are bourbon (which Adams pours generously over ice into a glass jug without measuring), a couple of dashes of orange bitters, and some simple syrup to mellow it down.

Adams then stirs it while explaining you could also user a shaker, then pours himself a drink into a smaller glass with a fancy snowflake-shaped glittery ice cube inside.

After explaining how fragrant the cocktail is, and saying it “just smells like the holidays,” Adams embellishes his cocktail. First he adds some “really expensive cherries.” Then he garnishes it with some orange peel. He then squeezes some of the orange peel’s oils into his drink. Finally, he rubs the orange piece around the rim of his glass, and throws it inside.

He then hands another to “Sweet Empire: Winter Wars” judge Jacques Torres, and the duo enjoy their drinks.

The video’s caption reads, “When @wellsadams calls this Old Fashioned the perfect holiday cocktail, we listen! ✨”
