Final Auditions Begin

The final night of auditions is here. We have amateur chefs from the Americas for these final five aprons to be handed out. We see the judges arrive, so time to get this started on “MasterChef: Global Gauntlet.” They will need three yeses to get an apron tonight.

First Group of Chefs

The first chefs are on the clock. We have chefs from Texas, Louisiana, and Jamaica in this first group. Gordon comes out to talk with these chefs as they prep their dishes. We learned that Camilo’s daughter dared him to do this. Tkaiya forgot to put her pineapple sauce on her chicken, so she’s hoping it doesn’t cost her an apron. The time runs out, so time to taste these dishes:

  • Tkaiya – Gordon said it looks nice visually. Tiffany said it’s so fragrant right now. Gordon said the chicken is cooked beautifully, the seasoning is great, but he wants a respite. He wants a sweetness or glaze to counteract the heat. Tiffany asks about the pineapple, as she doesn’t taste it. However, she says it’s crispy and glad she didn’t put it on it. Joe liked the jerk seasoning, and he could taste each component of it. It’s three yes votes from the judges, as she gets an apron.
  • Coby – Joe said it looks like it’s going to be full-flavored and presented in an elegant way. Gordon said the alligator is tough to get right. It’s a tad bland and needs more sauce or gravy. It’s a no from Gordon, so no apron for him.
  • Camilo – Tiffany loved the caramelization on the quail. Gordon said this is a tough bird to get right. Gordon cuts into and says it’s pink, bright, and beautiful. Tiffany said she didn’t taste any serrano in the avocado. When she thinks of Mexican cuisine, she thinks of flavor. Joe liked the quail and the flavor, so he is a yes. Gordon is a yes also. Tiffany is torn, but Camilo walks out with an apron, so she said yes!

Next Group of Chefs on ‘MasterChef’

Time to move on to another group of amateur chefs. We have Harold representing Venezuela and Jhanelle representing Jamaica. This was a quick one, as the time ran out, and it’s time for the judges to taste them.

  • Harold – Tiffany said she loves the colors, and it’s popping. Gordon cuts into the chicken, and it’s bloody in the middle. With raw chicken, they can’t go around it. It’s a no for Harold.
  • Jhanelle – Tiffany said it looks colorful and beautiful. Joe said visually, it looks like a modern restaurant-style dish. Gordon cuts into this one, and the sea bass is slightly undercooked. The stock is so salty, and the fish is slightly undercooked. Because of that, it’s a no and no apron for her.

More Aprons to Hand Out

For the next group of chefs on “MasterChef” season 16, we have Brittany Bay, who is a professional wrestler and is representing Barbados, and Jake, who is from Michigan and representing Mexico. This time, we have Tiffany and Joe heading out to talk with the chefs.

The time runs out on these chefs, so time for the judges to taste:

  • Brittany – Tiffany said it’s beautiful and smart how she plated it. The sauce is spicy, which Joe said was like a launch off the ropes. Gordon said it’s a simple execution, but wanted it less dense. The flavor is there, and he wants to see more, so it’s a yes. Joe said it’s spicy for him, but he really enjoyed it, and it’s a yes. Tiffany said she knows where she’s coming from when she eats this, so it’s a yes. It’s an apron for Brittany.
  • Jake – He is wrapping up his cakes, but struggling as time winds down for him. He got it together, but the presentation isn’t what he wanted since the glaze is warm and melting. For the judges, Tiffany said it’s not as refined as they’d want. Gordon said it sounds better than it looks. The cake itself is delicious. The innovation behind this thing is unique. Tiffany wanted a little salt on the chocolate, but this is really delicious. Joe said he’s put both head and heart into this dish. In unison, it was three yeses from the judges.

One More Apron to Hand Out

We have one more apron left and two more chefs to be highlighted. We have Maria, who is from Miami and representing Brazil, and Andrea, who is representing Alaska. The time runs out, and they’ll be bringing their dishes to the judges:

  • Andrea – Joe said everything about it seems balanced and elegant. It looks beautiful.
  • Maria – Tiffany said it looks stunning. All the elements are there, and it looks elevated.
