‘Great British Bake Off’ Viewers Notice Contestant’s Odd Habit

The sixteenth series of “The Great British Bake Off” is in full swing, as the third episode aired on Tuesday, September 16 — and viewers couldn’t help noticing one of the contestant’s odd and distracting habit.

The episode saw the ten remaining contestants trying to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, as hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding instructed them through bread week, with the challenges comprising the contestant’s own signature dish, technical, and showstopper.

Challenge one was to make monkey bread, challenge two was to produce a dozen glazed donuts, and challenge three was to bake sweet bread with three tiers. Star baker was Jasmine Mitchell, while Carol “Pui Man” Li became the third baker to be eliminated from the competition.

However, for many viewers of “The Great British Bake Off,” it was something contestant Nadia Mercuri kept doing that was the focus of their attention.

Nadia’s Hair Touching Distracted Some ‘The Great British Bake Off’ Viewers

Nadia, 41, described on “The Great British Bake Off” website as “a chatterbox bringing warmth and laughter into to every room,” looked radiant and stylish in a hot pink shirt, with her hair tied up in a messy ponytail — but her constant touching of said hair didn’t impress some viewers.

One X user who noticed the habit wrote, “I really just wanna grab all of Nadia’s hair and tie it up properly!! #GBBO”

Another commented with more irritation, writing, “Stop touching your hair NADIA and then touching the food – disgusting!!! #GBBO”

To be truthful, it was a very noticeable trait — one that most obviously occurred when Hollywood asked if Nadia had acquired her sundried tomatoes, olives and wild garlic from a field, to which she replied “yeah” while playing with her hair.

Don’t worry, though, Nadia, we’re sure that your hair is clean and you’re regularly washing your hands throughout filming!

Despite Her Habit, Nadia Performed Well

Fortunately for the Liverpool-based hairdresser, the habit didn’t result in her elimination from “The Great British Bake Off.”

Her Italian Monkey Bread, donuts (which placed her second in the rankings after the blind judging), and “Gâteaux De Marriage De Rêve” Sweet Bread impressed the judges enough to see her safely through to week four.

The theme of next week’s episode is “Back To School” and Nadia’s many fans will be cheering her on. It remains to be seen whether or not she will perform as well as she did this week — or if she’ll be able to kick the very noticeable habit of touching her hair so often!

The sixteenth season of “The Great British Bake Off” is available to watch on Netflix.
