Reality Check

The new contestants have arrived in the kitchen, and Val wants to dance on the counters! One of them will win $25,000 for their charity.

First Challenge on ‘Worst Cooks in America’

Time for the first challenge. For this challenge, the contestants will be tasked with creating a dish worthy of the red carpet. This is a baseline challenge, just so Jeff and Chef Terry can see how well or how badly they cook. They have 60 minutes to create the dish, and the contestants will all be tasting each other’s dishes.

Lisa Barlow from “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” is making a couple of dishes, thinking she is boujee, even though she has cooked hot dogs in the microwave. Amara La Negra, “Love & Hip Hop: Miami,” wants to give the winnings to her mom, forgetting that the money goes to charity.

Ryan Lochte is an Olympic champion, but definitely not a chef. Reza Farahan, “Shahs of Sunset” and “The Valley: Persian Style,” is definitely going to be a character this season. He is asking for Prozac.

I mean, we have “Downtown” Julie Brown, a VJ from MTV back in the day. That brings back some memories! Another MTV personality, CT Tamburello from “Real World” and “The Challenge,” is here. He is making a mac-and-cheese type dish, but is definitely struggling with the cheese.

The Struggle Is Real

Now we have “DWTS” pro Val Chmerkovskiy, who is standing there confused. He is struggling with how to peel his vegetables, and wants to use a grater. Manila Luzon from “RuPaul’s Drag Race” is making Filipino spaghetti, which apparently has banana ketchup in it, and hot dogs.

Rapper Romeo “Lil Romeo” Miller is making a pizza, which he says has his Super Romeo Sauce on it. Meanwhile, Beverly Mitchell from “7th Heaven” thinks chorizo is a seasoning. CT is making the ultimate single-dad meal, including dino nuggets.

Lisa can’t find the truffle for her mac and cheese, but finally finds it. It was sitting next to her the whole time. Jeff knows everyone on “Dancing With the Stars” wants to be with Val, so he gets a little dance time with him in the kitchen.

The time is running down, and it’s time for these contestants on “Worst Cooks in America” to plate their dishes. Romeo’s pizza is definitely struggling to cook right now. Val is making a side salad, which calls for kielbasa. He has none, so he uses hot dogs. Time runs out, and dishes are plated.

Tasting on ‘Worst Cooks in America’

The dishes are plated, and time for the judges to taste these dishes:

  • Ryan Lochte – It’s a spicy dish, for sure. Chef Tiffany said it is spicy, but not bad. Jeff said the rice needed to be cooked longer.
  • Julie Brown – Jeff said it needs salt. Chef Tiffany said the lamb pieces needed to be cut more evenly.
  • Reza – Jeff said it looks great, but it’s not how it tastes. Chef Tiffany said he went for it, and that needs to be commended.
  • Manila – Jeff said he thought he was going to get overwhelmed with bananas, but he wasn’t. The pasta was not cooked properly.
  • Romeo – Chef Toffany said the bacon is burnt. The pizza dough is overcooked and undercooked at the same time.
  • Beverly Mitchell – Jeff said thanks for the chorizo, as nothing else in the dish has flavors. Chef Tiffany said she tried, but she doesn’t want to take another bite.
  • Val – Chef Tiffany said his soup needed more time to cook, but the star here is the salad on the side. Jeff said he needed salt.
  • Lisa Barlow – Romeo had a hair in his dish! Chef Tiffany said calling it mac and cheese is a stretch. Then Reza also finds a hair in his dish!
  • Amara – Chef Tiffany said to devein the shrimp.
  • CT – Chef Tiffany said a lot of pasta and not a lot of sauce.

Team Selections

Jeff and Chef Tiffany are ready to pick their teams. Mark Long surprises them, a former winner of “Worst Cooks in America” and season 1 on “Road Rules.”

To determine which judge will get to select first, they will have to recreate the worst dish from the first challenge. Jeff says that the dish is Beverly’s, so they will have to recreate this dish and make it better. Mark will taste each dish and decide a winner.

There is a lot of smacktalking and trying to impress the contestants. The time runs out, and the dishes are plated. Jeff made a breakfast hash, and Chef Tiffany made a spring hash. Mark enjoyed both dishes, but he picked Chef Tiffany as the winner!

Since she won, Chef Tiffany gets to pick her team first. The teams are now:

  • Red Team (Chef Tiffany) – Reza, Val, Manila, Romeo, and Amara
  • Blue Team (Jeff) – Ryan, CT, Beverly, Julie, and Lisa

First Main Dish Demo

The teams head to their own kitchens, and the judges will be showing them how to create the next dish they will be making. For Jeff, it’s Peri Peri Chicken with Peri Peri Couscous and Mushy Minty Peas. For the Red Team, Chef Tiffany has them making Peri Peri Chicken with Couscous Salad and Brussel Sprouts.

The judges show them the dishes and how to make them. After all is done, the contestants have 60 minutes now to recreate that dish on “Worst Cooks in America” season 30.

The contestants have to cut the chicken themselves, and Jeff said they are drowning. The Blue Team is definitely struggling to cut the chicken and just get it together.

There is a lot of confusion in the kitchen. Val starts that blender without a top on it. He said he’s watched this show and hates that he is the first one to do it. CT seems to be struggling, but I think he’s competitive and paying attention.

Chaos In the Kitchen

Lisa has wardrobe following her around, like an entourage. Everyone has their chicken in the oven except Ryan. He is a competitor, so he ain’t giving up yet.

Julie Brown burnt her couscous, but makes it work. Amara is struggling with cutting the veggies, but she is blaming it on the nails.

Reza started a pot for his Brussels sprouts, so Amara just adds her Brussels sprouts in there. Chef Tiffany said some are going to be hard and some are going to be mushy.

The time is running out, and the contestants are trying to plate. Romeo is behind, so he grabs his chicken, and it’s hot, so he drops it on the ground!

Tasting Time

The dishes are plated, and time for the judges to taste them. Up first is the Blue Team:

  • Lisa – Jeff said her couscous is cooked perfectly. She got all the herbs in there, but no salt. Marinade is nice, but the chicken is undercooked.
  • Beverly – He likes the couscous, but the chicken is plated upside down. She hit all the notes with this dish.
  • Julie Brown – Great char on the chicken, and the breast is perfectly cooked. The couscous is excellent.
  • Ryan Lochte – The peas are really good, seasoned well. He nailed the couscous, but didn’t get the chicken cooked.
  • CT – Chicken is nicely cooked, as is the couscous. He wanted more salt on everything.

Time for the Red Team:

  • Reza – Chef Tiffany liked the chicken, but she wanted more salt. He shone with the couscous salad.
  • Amara – The chicken is juicy and seasoned, but she wanted more char. More seasoning on the Brussels sprouts.
  • Val – Couscous has clumps. More time in the water for the Brussels sprouts. Too much salt in the sauce, but the chicken was cooked nicely.
  • Manila – Brussels are cooked, but needed more salt. Extra char on the chicken. Overall, she did really well.
  • Romeo – She liked the char on the chicken. Wanted more herbs in the couscous. He just needs to give himself more time.

Results on ‘Worst Cooks in America’ Season 30

The judges and contestants are back in the kitchen. The contestants with the best dishes tonight are:

  • Red Team – Reza
  • Blue Team – Beverly

The other contestants safe on Blue Team are CT, Julie, and Lisa. That means Ryan is up for elimination tonight. For the Red Team, Val, Amara, and Manila are safe. That means Romeo is up for elimination.

Blind Elimination Challenge

Ryan and Romeo will have 50 minutes to create a chicken skewer dish with a flavorful sauce. The judges will leave the kitchen while they cook, and then come back to taste both dishes. They won’t know which contestant created which dish.

Both of the contestants are stressed over this. Their teammates are helping them get through this. Both of them are struggling with this, which explains why they are here! Mass chaos, as the time runs out and the dishes are plated.

The judges taste both of the dishes. They picked Ryan’s dish as the winner, which means that Romeo has been eliminated tonight on “Worst Cooks in America” season 30.
