Odette Annable made her Hallmark debut with her movie “Kentucky Roses” premiering on May 2. Annable stars alongside “Three Wise Men and a Baby” actor Andrew Walker, who plays her love interest. The story follows greenhouse worker Sadie, who falls for Ash, the son of Churchill Downs’ CEO as they fix the floral arrangements prior to the Kentucky Derby.
The film is another hit for the channel and has made Annable their next big star. When it comes to working on her next Hallmark movie, the “October Road” has a certain co-star in mind, her husband Dave Annable.
Working Together
GettyAnnable and her husband Dave have worked on several projects together. The couple first met on the set of the ABC drama “Brothers & Sisters” in 2010 when Annable was cast as Dave’s onscreen love interest. Sparks flew offscreen for the couple, who married later that year.
Since then, they’ve collaborated on other projects, including the 2018 romantic comedy “No Sleep ‘Til Christmas.” As for when and what their next collaboration will be, Annable thinks she can get her husband on board with a Hallmark film.
“We would love that,” Annable teased during a recent interview with Us Weekly. The potential Hallmark film will have to wait for the couple since Dave is busy filming “Lioness.” But Annable is certain it will happen one day, “absolutely in the future.”
While the couple enjoys working together, she joked that sometimes it might be too much. “I always say he likes working with me more than I like working with him. Because he’s my husband, we see each other all the time.”
New Hallmark Friend
GettyWhile Annable’s Hallmark collaboration with her husband will have to wait a little longer, she seems to have found a great onscreen partner with Walker. The two were on hand to celebrate the 2026 Kentucky Derby just hours before the premiere of their film.
Being able to film at an iconic place and to experience the spectacle of the Kentucky Derby was a dream for Walker. “We’ve wanted to do a story like this for many years,” Walker revealed during a red-carpet interview with “Today.”
The movie took 12 days to film with the cast and crew working from dawn to dusk. But being at Churchill Downs during the evening was a different experience.
“To be here at nighttime and to see this iconic arena or track at those different times of day was just like, it was spectacular,” Walker gushed.
Annable shared her co-star’s enthusiasm. “And to experience the backside where you don’t realize, but it’s a whole city within itself. There’s a church, there’s a school, you know, the horse trainers live there. Just seeing those horses every single day was pretty majestic.”
“Kentucky Roses” was a fun experience for Annable and Walker. And it’s also a fun, heartwarming story for viewers to watch. If fans missed out on the original showing, they can watch it on Hallmark+.
