Holly Robinson Peete Says It’s ‘Hard to Imagine’ Patrick Muldoon is Gone: See Her Moving Tribute

Among the many celebrities stunned by the news of actor Patrick Muldoon’s death on April 19, 2026, were Hallmark star Holly Robinson Peete and her husband, former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete. As news of Muldoon’s death at 57 broke on April 20, Robinson Peete shared a heartbreaking tribute to her fellow actor and family friend, expressing how hard it was to believe he was gone.

“This is so painful and sudden,” she captioned a black and white photo of Muldoon. “We heard about it yesterday and I kept telling Rodney that it couldn’t be true.”

“He was working so much and excited about all of his projects, 😭😭😭” Robinson Peete continued in her tribute, calling Muldoon “the coolest guy.”

The “Hats Off to Love” actress also included a retro photo of her husband’s teammates at USC, including Muldoon. She wrote, “He and Rodney played football at USC together and maintain a friendship over the decades…”

Robinson Peete continued, “So sudden. The fragility of life is just hard to process. He was such a vibrant guy. It’s hard to imagine him leaving us like this.”

“Sending so much love out to his family and my friend Miriam and everyone who loved him,” the actress concluded, acknowledging Muldoon’s longtime love, Miriam Rothbart. “Rest well, Patrick!!! Fight On 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔”

Rothbart found Muldoon unresponsive on the bathroom floor after they’d enjoyed their morning coffee and he got up to take a shower, according to TMZ, which reported that the “Days of Our Lives” alum died of a heart attack.

In addition to his roles in “Days of Our Lives,” “Melrose Place,” and “Starship Troopers,” Muldoon starred in the 2004 Hallmark movie “A Boyfriend for Christmas” and appeared in 2025’s “Double Scoop” with Taylor Cole and Ryan McPartlin.

But in recent months, he was also busy working behind the scenes on projects he was excited about. Two days before his death, on April 17, he posted a screenshot on Instagram of an article about his latest movie that he was pumped to executive produce, “Kockroach.”

He captioned the post, “So excited to be a part of this amazing project KOCKROACH directed by Matt Ross starring Chris Hemsworth, Taron Edgerton, Zazzie Beetz And Alec Baldwin. Filming now in Australia.”

Muldoon was also a producer on the 2026 Amazon Prime movie “The Dreadful” starring Sophie Turner, Kit Harington, and Marcia Gay Harden.

Many of his past and present Hollywood co-stars and friends have been paying tribute to Muldoon, including Hallmark star Alison Sweeney, who co-starred with him on “Days of Our Lives.” In a social media tribute, Sweeney tweeted, “This is such heartbreaking news. Pat was a rare kind of person—brilliantly talented, endlessly kind, and generous in spirit.”
