Hallmark fan favorite Alison Sweeney is heartbroken to learn of a former colleague’s death, and she is sending love to his family. Sweeney’s former “Days of Our Lives” co-star, Patrick Muldoon, died on April 19, according to Variety.

On April 20, almost immediately after Deadline reported Muldoon’s death, Sweeney took to social media to mourn the loss.
On X, formerly Twitter, Sweeney wrote, “This is such heartbreaking news. Pat was a rare kind of person—brilliantly talented, endlessly kind, and generous in spirit.”
Sweeney continued, “I was so lucky to have worked with him when I first started at Days, he made me feel at ease right away.”
“He brought his unique charm and humor to work every day. A truly gifted guy, and one who will be profoundly missed,” she added.
In a brief Instagram Story, Sweeney posted a photo that showed her years ago posing with fellow “Days of Our Lives” star Christie Clark and Muldoon. She wrote, “Sending love and prayers to Pat’s friends and family.” She tagged Clark in the post.
Muldoon Played Austin Reed on ‘Days of Our Lives’
Muldoon had dozens of roles over the course of his decades-long acting career. He even starred in a Hallmark movie not all that long ago titled “A Boyfriend for Christmas.”
The actor’s first role, according to his IMDb page, was playing “Matt” in two 1990 episodes of “Who’s the Boss?” That was followed by several episodes of the iconic series “Saved by the Bell.”
In 1992, Muldoon was cast as Austin Reed on “Days of Our Lives,” and that was his breakout role. He appeared in nearly 500 episodes of the soap opera, leaving in 1995 but returning to reprise his role as Austin from 2011 to 2012.
One of Muldoon’s most popular “Days of Our Lives” storylines was his romance with Carrie Brady, then played by Clark. Carrie was the sister of Sweeney’s character, Sami Brady.
Sweeney first joined “Days of Our Lives” in 1987, and she still pops up in Salem from time to time. She has appeared as Sami in over 3,600 episodes.
Since Sweeney and Muldoon starred on “Days of Our Lives” during the same time frame and had plenty of intersecting storylines, they became very good friends.
Over the years, both Muldoon and Sweeney shared various social media posts that showcased the fun dynamic they had and the many laughs they shared.
Fans commented on Sweeney’s X post, sharing their heartbreak over Muldoon’s sudden death.
“This is such a shock! He was way too young. My condolences to friends and family. Thank you for sharing your experience with him on Days,” one fan tweeted.
“I used to watch you guys on Days. You were a great pair,” another fan wrote.
