Sarah Drew has made it clear: she will not let one online critic rain on her parade. On February 20, 2026, the “Grey’s Anatomy” alum wrote a powerful response to someone who called her “tone deaf” for celebrating the renewal of her popular Hallmark mystery series, “Mistletoe Murders.”
Fans were quick to defend Drew, praising her for replying with, as one wrote, “a little bit of grace to silence the haters.”
Sarah Drew Says ‘I Can Grieve One Thing & Celebrate Another’
Drew and her series co-star, Peter Mooney, excitedly shared the news of their mystery series’ renewal in a social media video on February 20, hugging and screaming over the announcement. With nearly four million Instagram followers, her post was flooded with comments from equally excited fans and Hallmark colleagues, including Erin Cahill, Nikki DeLoach, and Jen Lilley.
But one person nearly crushed the vibe, writing, “Seems tone deaf 🤦🏽” — and Drew definitely noticed.
“I imagine this comment is in reference to the news about Eric Dane,” she responded, referencing the February 19 death of her former “Grey’s Anatomy” co-star, “or the fall of our democracy, or people getting kidnapped and killed in the streets, or the atrocities of the Epstein files, or the deeply corrupt administration we are living under- or any of the other truly heartbreaking things that are happening at the same time- all the time.”
Drew continued, “I just want to encourage you- that many things can be true at the same time. I can grieve one thing and celebrate another. I can work and I can mother. I’d ask you to offer a little bit of grace. We have to find our joy where it comes because joy is resistance. And this show and this community brings me so much joy, so I will celebrate that… while also grieving all of the other things I’ve mentioned.”
Fans Stick Up for Sarah Drew & Praise Her ‘Perfect Response’
GettyHundreds of fans “liked” Drew’s reply and dozens wrote comments praising what she wrote, including someone who gushed, “Gosh this is the perfect response. You’re the best.”
Another fan who referenced Dane’s passing commented, “There’s terrible, bad, horrible news at every turn. I didn’t know him, but I imagine her friend would want her to celebrate life whenever and however she can.”
Someone else pointed out that Drew has been very vocal about Dane’s passing and her concerns about social justice issues in her Instagram Stories, writing, “everything she mentioned that is also happening she mentions in her stories. She’s not silent on any of it. Should she ONLY post about bad things? And not what she has going on as an actor which is her own livelihood? Strange”
“Always so graceful,” another fan wrote. “People feel entitled to your lives because you are on tv . They hold you to an unrealistic standard. So that’s what you will get today as a celebrity and I’m sure this is not new to you and you handle it as well as you just did to this commenter . Celebrate your joys . You worked hard for it !”
Drew and Mooney will begin filming season three of “Mistletoe Murders” soon, with the series slated to return during Hallmark’s 2026 Countdown to Christmas lineup. Meanwhile, Drew stars in the February 21 premiere of “The Stars Between Us” on Hallmark Channel at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Whoever made that Comment “Tone Deaf”. If you have Nothing nice to say, Don’t say Anything. That was a Rude Comment to Sarah Drew.
I agree with you. I think that Sarah Drew is an amazing actress. Love the Mistletoe Murders mystery series.
More LOVE than HATE!!!
Love your comment.
It’s amazing how many people feel emboldened to post things using a keyboard and hiding behind a screen that they would never have the cojones to say to a persons face.
Sarah Drew showed total class in dealing with this tasteless commenter.
I had your back until you made the statement, “the deeply corrupt administration we are living under”! OMG,for you to not say that about our previous administration, I just don’t understand. Now, I’m not sure I even want to watch your show. This President is doing all he can for the “AMERICAN people”, and while you’re entitled to your opinion I just simply can’t agree with it. I think you are an excellent actress and I love your work, but if you’re not on “our side”, I just can’t support you either. Good luck Ms. Drew.
How sad for you. Wow! I guess the only people entitled to their opinion are those on the “right” side. And as far as her opinion, no one said you have to agree with it. It’s HER opinion and she is allowed to have one.

Yep sounds good to me, I actually really like her but am rethinking it , sorry Sara sometimes it’s better not to comment at all, Especially about politics
Agreed Linda. I love Sarah Drew as a very talented actress. However, instead of just addressing the jerk who commented to her and was questioning how she could celebrate her success after the loss of her friend, had ZERO to do with politics. She should have kept the remark back to the jerk explaining how she can still grieve the loss of her friend but embrace positive news for herself. She basically just dissed half her viewing audience maybe more since 1/2 the country voted for the current Administration. She did so unnecessarily by dragging negative political comments into a non-political circumstance. People tune in to Hallmark to get away from all that. We want to see happy stories about love, friendship, etc. not get lectures on actors political grievances or personal opinions. Super disappointing.
Keep speaking the truth. Some people can’t handle the truth.
I am so happy to hear we will have more Mistletoe Murders.
Looking forward to more entertaining shows and timely quotes.
So sad that people would say that she was wrong to celebrate a personal high because her friend passed. Loss is inevitable but what keeps us all going through sad times is life (it doesn’t stop moving on) and the ability to celebrate the joys. She is a great actress and I love the Mistletoe Murders series. So happy to have it to look forward to on Hallmark.
