Fans Thrilled as Hallmark Renews ‘Mistletoe Murders’ for 3rd Season

Mystery solved! Fans of Hallmark’s cozy Christmas mystery series “Mistletoe Murders,” starring Sarah Drew and Peter Mooney, have been searching for clues that the show will be back for a third season — and some followup to a big season two cliffhanger.

On February 20, 2026, sleuthers got the news they’ve been hoping for,. In a cheeky social media video, Drew and Mooney revealed that Hallmark has, indeed, renewed the series.

Fans Are Over the Moon About “Mistletoe Murders’ Renewal

While attending a happy hour in Los Angeles with some of their fellow Hallmark pals, Drew and Mooney recorded a cute video where they pretended to bump in each other and then discover a Christmas present behind them. When they opened the box, a Christmas card with the season three renewal news was inside.

They cheered, and so did fans — flooding Drew’s social media post with comments, including someone who wrote, “This is the best news I’ve heard all year!! So so happy we get more of this amazing show.”

Another agreed, “Hooray!!! Best news I’ve heard in a long time!!”

Drew’s dear friend and fellow Hallmark star Erin Cahill sweetly wrote, “Yessssss!!! CONGRATULATIONS! As a fan and as a friend, I am so so excited about this! ♥️🎉💕”

In their video, Drew and Mooney confirmed that the third season will air on Hallmark Channel during its 2026 Countdown to Christmas programming lineup, with each episode available to stream the next day on Hallmark+. Filming will start later this year, according to Hallmark Media.

In a statement, Head of Programming Michelle Vicary said, “Mistletoe Murders embodies so many of the elements viewers turn to Hallmark for: romance, community and Christmas wrapped within a cozy mystery. Over two seasons, viewer response to this series has been overwhelmingly positive and we cannot wait to bring them back to Fletcher’s Grove and to continue to reveal the backstory that has made Emily Lane one of the most enigmatic characters on television.”

Sarah Drew Calls ‘Mistletoe Murders’ Her ‘Favorite Job’ Ever

Drew, who will also star in the Hallmark movie “The Stars Between Us,” premiering on February 21, told People of her series’ renewal, “I could not be more thrilled to be returning to Fletcher’s Grove for season 3 of ‘Mistletoe Murders.’ As I’ve said in numerous interviews, this is my favorite job I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to tell more stories about Emily and Sam. I can’t wait to resolve that giant cliffhanger, and I can’t wait to be back on set with my beloved community in Toronto.”

In November 2025, as the second season was airing, Drew explained on the “Pop Culture Unplugged” podcast why “Mistletoe Murders” has become her favorite job, even after a career that’s included hit series like “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Everwood.”

Among her reasons, Drew called the set “so joyful.” Though the subject matter is often serious, off-camera, Drew said she finds herself laughing all the time. She’s also bonded with everyone who works on the show, telling the podcast hosts, “I have such deep, tender friendships with everybody on that crew and cast.”

Mooney also shared his excitement with People, telling the outlet, “So excited about our season 3 renewal! This is one of those rare shows for us all. The cast is incredible, the crew is incredible. We have so much fun making it.”

In “Mistletoe Murders,” based on a popular Audible Original series of the same name, Drew plays Emily Lane, who owns a small-town Christmas shop but, as season two revealed, has been hiding parts of her past that have make her scary-good at helping local detective Sam Wilner (played by Mooney) solve local crimes. The first two seasons are available to stream on Hallmark+.

  1. Thank you for the continuation of Mistletoe Murders. Terrific series. Sorry to say I was not a fan of many of your Christmas movies or most of the new actors. I kept watching your older Christmas films.
