Inside Tim Curry’s Final Public Appearance With ‘Rocky Horror’ Family Before His Passing at 80

Fans around the world were heartbroken to learn that Hollywood legend Tim Curry passed away today at 80.

Though he struggled with health issues for years following his 2012 stroke, he transitioned into voice acting as a way to keep up in the entertainment industry.

Now, fans are reflecting on his final public appearances in the fall of 2025. Tim Curry will be tremendously missed.

Tim Curry Remembers Playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter During His Final Appearance

As reported by Page Six, Tim Curry joined other cast members from “The Rocky Horror Picture” show in honor of the film’s 50th anniversary last fall in New York City. The even took place on November 3, 2025, which marked the actor’s final public appearance.

His co-stars, Patricia Quinn, Barry Bostwick, and Nell Campbell joined him. Each actor was delighted for the reunion and eagerly met fans and posed for pictures together.

During a panel, Tim Curry reflected on his iconic role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter and developing the character’s unique style and accent. Initially, Curry wanted to play the mad scientist with a German accent. However, director Jim Sharman found it “boring.”

During the filming process, Curry remembered eavesdropping on a conversation between two upper-class women on a bus. Immediately, he knew he found Frank’s sound.

“They wanted to sound like the queen and that seemed appropriate for Frank, really, who clearly thought he was the queen,” the actor recalled.

Though Tim Curry genuinely enjoyed reuniting with his “Rocky Horror” family and meeting fans, he expressed frustration over his health issues, as noted by The Hollywood Reporter.

“I still can’t walk, which is why I’m in this silly chair, and that’s very limiting. So I won’t be singing and I won’t be dancing very soon. I still have real problems with my left leg,” the actor told fans.

Even so, Tim Curry was excited to see such a strong turn out. Even after 50 years, the “Rocky Horror” legacy holds true.

“I’m so excited by this and very honored by the Academy to do this presentation of our movie, which has dragged on for 50 years,” the actor joked.

The Beloved Actor Relearned to Speak Following His Brain Surgery

During an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Tim Curry recalled the physical challenges he faced following his 2012 stroke. He lost the ability to speak and walk. Though he went on to regain his ability to speak, he used a wheelchair for the remainder of his life.

“I understand that I had two blood clots in my brain,” Curry explained, noting that he required an incredibly serious and invasive procedure to address the problem.

“I was in the hospital for a while, I think about a month,” the actor continued. “And I had a certain amount of rehabilitation. I had to learn how to speak again. That was very weird. I hated not being able to speak because I speak a lot. I have to be told to shut up a lot.”
