Susan Lucci Reveals Where She Stands on Joining Kelly Ripa’s ‘All My Children’ Movie

“All My Children” fans are thrilled at the idea of a movie reboot, but would love it if the iconic Erica Kane, played by Susan Lucci, made her return as well.

Will Susan Lucci Return for ‘All My Children’ Movie?

Lucci—who was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series 21 times for her role as Erica Kane—revealed she is open to bringing back the beloved character.

“Mark [Consuelos] and I and our production company, we are developing two ‘All My Children’ movies for Lifetime,” Kelly Ripa told Lucci on the Wednesday, January 28, episode of her “Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa” podcast. “We are so excited. Very early stages, but how would you feel about, not to put you on the spot, would you, how would you feel about. Walking back into the role?”

Lucci, 79, was thrilled by the idea, saying, “I would love to play Erica Kane again.”

“Are you kidding? She was so much fun to play. My goodness, it was so much fun. I was serious when I said I would look at the scripts and go, ‘Really? I get to do this?'” she reminisced. “This was a wonderful part. And I’m hearing good things about the writer, too, and that, of course, is so important, whose hands are you in.”

Lucci played Kane for more than 40 years, beginning in January 1970, until the last broadcast episode in September 2011, per IMDb. Ripa joined the long-running daytime series as Hayley Vaughan Santos 1990. She exited in 2002 and returned briefly in 2010.

She went on to say that she has “worked with” Lifetime before and has “nothing but positive things” to say of her experience.

Kelly Ripa Opened Up About ‘All My Children’ Reboot

Ripa, who met her husband Mark Consuelos on the set of the once-popular soap opera, has been working on rebooting the series for awhile.

“We’ve been working on it for so long. It’s really out of our hands. It’s in other people’s hands,” she explained during a November 2025 appearance on the “Soapy” podcast. “It’s like one of those things where you get something off the ground and then—oh—there’s corporate restructuring, there’s new management, and then the project falls down.”

It seems all the stars are aligning as Ripa’s production company, Milojo, is producing two Lifetime movies.

According to “Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa” producer, Albert Bianchini, fans “want more.”
