Hugh Jackman may be one of the biggest A-listers of the modern era. But at the end of the day, he’s just like everyone else. After all these years in the spotlight, he still loves goofing off with his best friends.
In a recent video, he and his close friend Ryan Reynolds chugged a beer from a shoe, much to the delight of fans and onlookers. While it’s certainly an unconventional way to bond, fans loved seeing the friends engage in such ridiculous shenanigans.

Marvel Stars Hugh Jackman & Ryan Reynolds Partake in a ‘Shoey’
Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” premiered in 2024, but stars Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds still enjoy each other’s company. In fact, they even recently engaged in a “shoey” for fans.
“I would say it’s been a good 35 years since my last shoey!!!” Jackman captioned an Instagram post, crediting Saltlab Productions with capturing the moment.
In the clip, friends serenade the 57-year-old as he pours beer into a shoe. The actor lifts the article of clothing to his lips and downs it as the crowd cheers and applauds around him. In the background, Ryan Reynolds laughs before attempting the move himself.
The “Deadpool” actor also finishes off the beer, though he seems much more reluctant than his Marvel co-star. As the group claps, Reynolds pretends to faint. He and Hugh Jackman share a hug before the latter jokes, “Drink responsibly!”
Although few fans seemed eager to try a “shoey” for themselves, they certainly enjoyed seeing Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds give it a try.
“I don’t remember this scene in the Deadpool x Wolverine movie,” one fan quipped in the comments.
“Omg it’s so good to see you and Ryan together again😭❤️💛” another added.

“Gossip Girl” star Blake Lively wore a stunning ball gown inspired by her children’s watercolor paintings to the event. However, one of the dress hooks came undone and she needed help getting it back together. Since Ryan Reynolds was unable to attend the Met Gala, she turned to their family friend, Hugh Jackman, to save the day.

“I’m like, ‘Ryan, is this cool? Checking. Are we good?'” the actor remembered. Reynolds didn’t mind at all, so Jackman stepped in to prevent Blake Lively from a wardrobe malfunction.
