“It Ends With Us” star Blake Lively absolutely shone at the 2026 Met Gala. Thanks to a famous friend, the actress narrowly avoided a wardrobe mishap on the red carpet.
In a new interview, the friend hilariously recounted the tale, adding that he checked with Ryan Reynolds before lending a hand.
Blake Lively Captivated Onlookers in Her Designer Ball Gown

“A Simple Favor” star Blake Lively attended in a gorgeous ball gown, complete with an expansive colorful train.
However, she realized one of the hooks in her dress had come undone. Thankfully, Hugh Jackman was there to assist.

Jackman wanted to help his friend, but felt compelled to let her husband, Ryan Reynolds, know first. He didn’t accompany Blake Lively to the Met Gala for unknown reasons.
“I’m like, ‘Ryan, is this cool? Checking. Are we good?’” the Marvel actor remembered. Reynolds assured him it was completely fine. Everyone attended the event without a hitch.
Hugh Jackman attended with Broadway star Sutton Foster as his date for the evening.
The Star’s Children Helped Inspire Her Ensemble For the Evening

“This is archival Versace, but they Met-afied it by adding a big, beautiful train,” Lively told Vogue regarding the ball gown. “So, it’s a piece from 2006, and it was just such an honor to be able to wear this gorgeous, gorgeous gown. It looks like a sunrise and a sunset and watercolor.”
The 38-year-old wanted to find a way to represent her four children at the Met Gala, which is where the inspiration for her train drew from. Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are the parents of daughters, James, 11, Inez, 9, and Betty, 6, and son, Olin, 3.
“Then I said, ‘Would you actually, if you’re gonna make it custom, would you do my kids’ art?’ So, my kids each painted a painting, a watercolor painting. So, each of my four kids did this,” Lively proudly shared. She quipped that she wishes she could have snuck the children in under her ball gown.
The Actress’ Marriage to Ryan Reynolds Seems Stronger Than Ever
While Ryan Reynolds wasn’t in attendance, his marriage to Blake Lively appears stronger than ever before. On Instagram, Lively uploaded several photos from their trip to Great Britain and they appear to be having a marvelous time.
