“Teen Mom” alum Cory Wharton is asking fans for their support and to send prayers for his young daughter Maya ahead of her open-heart surgery. The reality TV star is a dad of three, and shares Maya and another daughter, Mila Mae, with his ex, Taylor Selfridge. He is also a father to his daughter, Ryder, whom he shares with his ex, Cheyenne Floyd.
Cory Wharton Asks for Prayers for His Toddler
On Tuesday, September 9, Wharton posted several photos of himself and Maya on Instagram. She is wearing a hospital gown and posing for pictures with her dad, many of which show her with a pacifier in her mouth. She is adorable. Wharton wears a blue hair net and a white covering over his clothes. In the caption, he shared his thoughts.
“Prayers for Maya,” he began his message. “Maya has a Cath lab this morning to get her ready for her next Open Heart Surgery. I think all my parents can agree. It’s always stressful when your kid has to go under anesthesia, especially when you start to have PTSD from all her other procedures. It’s not a good feeling, but we know she needs this in order to feel better. I’ll say this I know Maya is a lil warrior & we will get through this.”
Fans and celebrities have shown their support for Maya and Wharton, flooding the comment section of the post with loving messages. “You got this little warrior,” a comment reads. “Sending tons of love,” another person shared.
Other reactions include, “It’s the most helpless feeling as a parent, but these babies are stronger and more resilient than we give them credit for sending healing vibes her way,” and “Praying for successful procedure + recovery.”
Wharton has not yet updated fans on his daughter’s health and how the procedure went, but he did thank them for their support on his Instagram Stories. “Thank you for all the prayers and love,” he wrote.
Cory Wharton Reveals Daughter’s Health Struggles
Wharton put on an incredibly brave face ahead of Maya’s open-heart surgery on September 9, and it is not the first time she has undergone this operation. In January 2023, he shared on Instagram that Maya had open-heart surgery when she was seven months old.
“Maya’s doing okay. She’s not doing great,” he said on Instagram at the time, People reports. “They’re keeping her sedated right now because her left lung has some fluid in it, and she’s having a hard time breathing on her own. So I just need that little girl to push out all that fluid in her lungs so then hopefully her vitals start to look normal.”
Wharton later updated fans to inform them his sweet baby was going to get through it and thanked fans again for their continued support.
