‘Floribama Shore’ Star Kirk Medas Remembered by His MTV Family 1 Year After Unexpected Passing

Floribama Shore” star Kirk Medas unexpectedly passed away one year ago on May 2, 2025. The MTV star, at the time, had been hospitalized for necrotizing pancreatitis and sepsis before his health battle turned too severe to beat, People reported.

Medas joined “Floribama Shore” as one of its original cast members in 2017. Beside him in the summer reality TV series were Jeremiah Buoni, Codi Butts, Kortni Gilson, Aimee Hall, Nilsa Prowant, Candace Rice and Gus Smyrnios.

The young group shared the screen together for four seasons until 2021, when “Floribama Shore” officially ended.

‘Floribama Shore’ Cast Honors Kirk Medas 1 Year After He Passed

Despite their MTV chapter coming to a close, the cast remained close friends over the years — similar to the familial bond that the “Jersey Shore” cast forged when they began their reality TV journey.

When Medas unexpectedly died in 2025, his MTV family heavily mourned his passing. Seemingly, Medas was, according to his costars, the type of friend that was truly irreplaceable.

With it being the one-year anniversary of Medas’ death, his “Floribama Shore” costars have shared their heartfelt tributes for their dear friend.

In an Instagram post from Butts, the MTV star remembered Medas as the person who forever changed his life.

“One year ago today I got the worst phone call I could ever imagine. I lost my best friend, my brother and someone who changed my life forever. I am so thankful for everything you did for me. Words can’t describe how you changed and impacted my life,” Butts wrote. “I will forever be grateful that our paths crossed. I love you Kirk!

In an Instagram post from Prowant, whose mom walked hand-in-hand down the aisle with Medas at the 32-year-old’s wedding in 2021, she honored her beloved friend by remembering him as the light that never fades.

“One year. One year since we got the news. One year since I fell to my knees in disbelief. Some days it still doesn’t seem real. Some moments, it hits harder than others. In every moment we all wish you were still here,” Prowant wrote. “We miss you Kirk, we love you, and I will continue to tell the world how incredible you are. ‘There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone, the light remains.’ Long Live Kirk”

In an Instagram post from Hall, she shared how she still speaks to Medas in spirit, keeping his memory alive both in the good and bad times.

“365 days since you left this earth and went to heaven, and I still talk to you like you never left. I know God is holding you, because some souls are too beautiful for this world. I’ll see you again, and next time, we’ll have eternity where death doesn’t exist,” Hall wrote.

Kirk Medas Described as a One-of-a-Kind Friend

In an Instagram post from Rice, she shared how Medas’ passing still feels unreal. Hall noted that Medas’ death left a dent in the world that just can’t be replaced.

“I cannot believe it’s been a full year… I’ve missed you so much Kirk. Being in Atlanta isn’t the same without you. Endless memories… man you truly left a mark on this world,” Rice wrote. “Missing u hug your people. Love on them today #LLK.”

“Floribama Shore” star Buoni remembered Medas back in November by sharing how fortunate he was to have known Medas and to have had him in his corner as a friend.

“Legends Never Die! Miss you everyday brother and thankful I was lucky enough to have an amazing friend like you in my life! Love you Kirk,” Buoni captioned an Instagram post at the time.

Since Medas’ death, the “Floribama Shore” cast has kept up on public appearances as well as enjoyed personal adventures together. While Medas’ brotherhood is irreplaceable — it would be that very unique quality that has — and will — continue to keep his memory alive.

RIP Kirk Medas!
