‘The Challenge’ Live Recap & Spoilers – 09/17/2025

“The Challenge” airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. Eastern time on MTV, and here’s everything that happened on tonight’s episode. This article will update as the night goes on.

‘The Challenge’ Recap

Last week, Nany Gonzales and Leo Temory won the daily challenge, and Tay Wilcoxson went into elimination against Izzy Fairthorne. Wilcoxson won, sending Fairthorne home. Will Gagnon became the hangnail, preventing him from competing in tonight’s challenge and making him a possibility for elimination.

The Episode Started With Arguments

Turbo Çamkıran immediately picked a fight with Derek Chavez, upset that Derek voted for his partner, Dee Valladares, to go into elimination. Had Valladares gone into elimination and lost, Çamkıran would have become the hangnail. However, she was spared, as far more people voted for Fairthorne.

In another room, Theo Campbell lamented a swollen knee, questioning if he would medically make it through the season. So far, he’s still cleared to compete.

Theo Campbell’s Injury

At the start of the daily challenge, TJ Lavin announced that Campbell is not medically cleared to compete until he gets an MRI. As Gagnon was the hangnail, he and Campbell switched places, making Campbell the hangnail and putting Gagnon in a partnership with Valladares.

Tonight’s Daily Challenge

Tonight featured another heights-over-water challenge, where competitors had to climb up a spinning rectangle and place blocks on a high-up ledge. After that, it was a swimming race to a series of floating platforms.

Michaela Bradshaw opted to throw the daily challenge, as she was partnered with CT Tamburello. In a previous episode, Tamburello botched a heights-over-water challenge out of fear, inadvertently sending his partner, Leka Sodade, into elimination. Sodade went home. Other challengers speculated that Tamburello threw that challenge, knowing he was safe both from elimination and from being the hangnail.

Syndey Segal and Yeremi Hykel won the challenge. Bradshaw and Tamburello lost, sending Tamburello straight into elimination. Segal and Hykel won eight points and must select one team to go against Campbell in a vote to determine who will compete against Tamburello.

‘The Challenge’ Jury Vote

Campbell has been cleared to compete, making him a viable option for tonight’s elimination. Segal and Hykel selected Derek Chavez and Aviv Melmed to be up for elimination. Due to an almost unanimous vote, Chavez will be going against Tamburello in the elimination.

Tonight’s Elimination

Tonight’s elimination is a “Challenge” classic: pole wrestler. Chavez and Tamburello must try to wrestle a pole out from the hands of the other challenger. Tamburello won rounds one and two, making him the winner and sending Chavez home.

Lavin announced the next daily challenge would be individual, so the cast would not be selecting new partners.
