R&B music artist Cassie Ventura is officially closing the door on her life in the States. She is heading overseas for a well-deserved fresh start.
In a powerful move toward privacy and healing, the singer and model confirmed in a recent May 1 court filing that she has permanently relocated. She made it very clear that she has “no intention of moving back to the United States.” Instead, she is choosing to build a quiet, happy future with her husband, Alex Fine, and their three kids.
While she’s still a U.S. citizen, Cassie has officially ditched her California residency. She wants to stay out of the intense media spotlight that has followed her this past year. We don’t know exactly where the family has landed yet. However, one thing is certain: Cassie is putting her family and her peace of mind first.
Why Cassie’s International Status Matters in Court
GettyThis big reveal didn’t come from a public press release, but as a requirement in part of an active civil lawsuit. It’s important to remember that this active civil case is part of the larger legal fallout ignited by Cassie’s initial lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs in November 2023. Although that first case was settled quickly, it opened the door for other claims to surface. That is why Ventura is dealing with this current legal drama.
Cassie had to clarify her residency in response to a case brought against her and her ex, Diddy, by a male escort named Clayton Howard. Howard has made some pretty wild and serious allegations. However, Ventura’s legal team is standing firm. Her lawyer, Melodie Han, of Wigdor LLP, is pushing to have the whole case dismissed. She is calling the claims a personal vendetta.
Interestingly, Cassie’s move plays a part in the legal strategy, too. Her team is using her new international status to argue that any remaining legal business should happen in New York, which is “significantly more convenient” for her lawyers than flying back to California. In most recent court filings, the “Me & U” singer shared, “I reside outside of the United States. I do not intend to move back to the United States.”
Healing and Happiness Above All Else
Ultimately, this courageous, transitional move is about mental and emotional recovery. Insiders say that reliving past trauma during the recent legal battles with Diddy was incredibly draining for Cassie. As a result, she is seeking a permanent break from the U.S. media circus.
She’s focused on trauma therapy and finding the space she needs to breathe. Luckily, she’s more than set up financially for success. Thanks to a $20 million settlement from Combs and an estimated $10 million from the hotel that leaked footage of her 2016 assault, Cassie has the financial freedom to live exactly how she wants.
With roughly $30 million in the bank and her family by her side, Cassie Ventura is reclaiming her life. Therefore, she is starting a beautiful new journey on her own terms.
