WATCH TRAILER: The Owen Sisters Are Back
In the upcoming film, the lives of the Owens sisters are gently drawn into a new chapter when a mysterious figure arrives in their quiet New England town, bringing a sense of change and curiosity.
The trailer offers only a brief glimpse, accompanied by a simple promise from Warner Bros.: “The magic returns.”
While much of the story remains under wraps, the mood carries a warm sense of familiarity, weaving together nostalgia and something new, and inviting both longtime fans and first-time viewers back into a world that has always felt a little bit magical.
A Story That Continues to Resonate
Kidman first announced the sequel in 2024, revealing that she and Bullock had found a meaningful way to revisit the characters.
“The enduring affection for these characters has been our inspiration to deliver the next installment in the Owens’ story to new fans, and those who’ve been with us since the beginning,” the filmmaking team said in a 2025 statement, as reported by People.
The two actors also appeared at CinemaCon earlier this month, where they celebrated the project with a simple message to fans: “The witches are back!”
Familiar Faces and New Additions Join the Cast
Alongside Bullock and Kidman, the sequel expands the story by introducing a new generation while welcoming back familiar faces.
Joey King joins the cast as Sally’s daughter, with Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod also part of the ensemble.
Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest return as the beloved aunts who helped raise the sisters, continuing their roles from the original film.
The screenplay is co-written by Akiva Goldman and Georgia Pritchett, with both Bullock and Kidman also serving as producers, bringing a sense of continuity to the next chapter of the story.
The original “Practical Magic,” inspired by Alice Hoffman’s 1995 novel, told the story of sisters Sally and Gillian as they navigated love, loss, and a family legacy touched by an enduring spell.
At its heart, the film explored the bond between the two women as they sought to shape their own futures while carrying the weight of their past.
“Practical Magic 2” is set to arrive in theaters on September 18, inviting audiences back into a world where love, family, and a touch of magic continue to intertwine.
