“Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Angie Katsanevas has become a fan favorite since becoming a full-time cast member two seasons ago. Now, she’s set to break barriers as she will become the first “Real Housewives” star to testify before Congress.
According to TMZ, Katsanevas will testify before Congress on behalf of the International Franchise Association. This will reportedly take place on January 22. She will use her experience as a franchise owner to advocate for others looking to expand their businesses.
Angie Katsanevas’ Business has Grown Quite a Bit
GettyKatsanevas cofounded her hair salon, Lunsatic Fringe, with her husband, Shawn Trujillo, in 1999. Per the report from TMZ, the company has grown to include 9 locations, making Katsanevas the perfect person to advocate for franchising.
She spoke to Paper Magazine about her love of hair and fashion in November 2025. Regarding her decision to go to beauty school, Katsanevas said, “It’s so interesting. When I was 12, I was in shop — I took the class knowing I’d be the only girl. I was boy crazy, and I loved being with the boys. So I was in a shop, and the teacher made us go around and say what we wanted to be when we grew up.
I had recently read about a cosmetologist, and I learned that that was a hairdresser. I couldn’t ever really retain information in school, but if you handed me a fashion magazine about hair, makeup or fashion, I would get sucked into it. I would remember every word that I read. When I learned the word cosmetologist, I thought: That’s what I want to be when I grow up.”
Katsanevas later said, “So I went to college for six months, not beauty school, but college. I found myself still cheating on my neighbor’s paper. What am I doing? I need to go to beauty school, so I jumped in with both feet. I fell in love with the industry.
I fell in love with the people, and I was in trouble my entire life in school for talking too much, which I’m doing right now! And I was able to join an industry where I could be creative.”
She Recently Opened Up About Being Cast on RHOSLC
Katsanevas appeared on a January 2026 episode of The Viall Files and discussed her journey to joining “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.” She started, “I think that the way that I came on- showly and organically, the fans didn’t really get to see my personal story.
I keep saying I wasn’t an OG, I’m a new G, but I didn’t get the rollout. I didn’t get the ‘this is Angie as a person’ so I was only being seen in conflict with women.”
From there, Katsanevas stated that she went to high school with Heather Gay, who recommended her for the show.
