The family of Jeff Probst is dealing with a sad loss. The longtime “Survivor” host’s younger brother, Scott Probst, has passed away.
Jeff’s other brother, Brent Probst, made the annoucement on Monday, May 11.
“Scott previously worked alongside his brother on Survivor,” according to People. “While Jeff, 64, has hosted the reality series since May 2000, his brother has been credited on a few episodes as both an art assistant and camera assistant.”
Scott Will Be Missed By Friends, Family and ‘Survivor’ Alum
Brent took to Instagram to break the news, posting a photo of Scott looking up at the camera while wearing a T-shirt and baseball cap, and spending time with a dog.
Brent also included a message with the post, writing, “Some sad news, our brother Scott is no longer with us. He was a great brother, son and friend. I will miss him so much ❤️ I’m so sad he is gone.”
Although Jeff hasn’t made a public statement or posted about his brother’s passing on social media, plenty of Brent’s Instagram followers reacted to the post.
Brent’s daughter, Amanda Probst, left a comment, writing that Scott was also a great “uncle ❤️,” adding, “I love you dad❤️”
“I am so sorry to hear this. Sending you and your family so much love <3,” singer and “Survivor 45” alum Janani K. Jha added.
“Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X” winner Adam Klein wrote, “I am so terribly sorry Brent. Sending love to you and your whole family.”
“Our deepest condolences to the whole Probst family. ♥️♥️♥️ Big hugs to you all. 🫂,” came from another follower.
Someone else who obviously knew Scott also left a comment, saying, “So sorry. He was a great friend and will be missed.”
The Brothers’ Loss Comes Two Years After their Mother’s Passing
The loss of Jeff and Brent’s brother, Scott, comes two years after they lost their mother, Barb Probst.
In November 2024, Pop Culture reported, “Survivor is paying tribute to its ‘biggest’ fan. At the end of Wednesday’s newest episode – Survivor Season 47, Episode 10, ‘Loyal to the Soil’ – the long-running CBS series shared a touching tribute to host Jeff Probst’s late mother Barb Probst, who passed away earlier this month.”
“After the episode saw the remaining contestants competing in a reward challenge, negotiating for rice, and a Tribal Council vote that ended with another elimination, a tribute card at the end of the episode read, ‘Dedicated to Barb, the biggest Survivor fan of all time. See you on our next adventure,'” per Pop Culture.
The tribute came after Brent shared an Instagram post about losing his mother, writing, “My amazing mom Barbara Probst passed away peacefully yesterday in her home. She was the best mom, grandma and just a fantastic person full of love and life. For the last couple years, she had full-time care for dementia and died one week before her 86th birthday. She had a great life and I am certain that I am a good person because she and my dad raised me with love and humor. I will miss her every single day for the rest of my life.❤️”
