Taylor Swift Performs Secret Show, Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Secrets of Eras Tour Docuseries

Days after Taylor Swift exchanged vows with Travis Kelce in Madison Square Garden, she received some amazing news courtesy of the Emmy Award nominations.

As The Hollywood Reporter pointed out at the time, Swift’s Disney+ documentary series, “The Eras Tour: The End of an Era,” earned an impressive five Emmy nominations.

Behind the Scenes

Deadline reports that on Wednesday, August 19, Swift made an appearance at the Ross House in Los Angeles. She was there to honor Glenn Weiss, who directed both the docuseries and the concert special “The Eras Tour: The Final Show.” She was also supporting the projects’ sound designer, John Ross, with the three sharing Emmy nominations.

While no media was allowed in the ultra-private event, Swift praised Weiss in remarks she delivered to the small group of attendees, reportedly numbering around 50.

“One of the things that I was so impressed by, and the needle Glenn threaded so effortlessly, is that the Eras Tour was such a phenomenon because of so many factors but one that I know that is really important is that it was a source of great escapism for the people who were there,” she said.

‘How Do We Preserve This Experience?’

Phones and cameras were not permitted at the event; however, one photo of Swift posing with Weiss and Ross was released to Deadline.

Swift reportedly also performed at the event, although Deadline was unable to determine which of her many hits she sang.

Continuing her remarks, Swift weighed in on the process of bringing intimacy to such a large-scale event as the Eras Tour.

“Glenn and I had conversations about ‘How do we preserve this experience?’ Because if you lose the feeling of relaxation and freedom for the fans there, then you’ve lost a huge element of what makes this concert experience so special,” she explained.

“Glenn created a situation where the fans could be lost in the moment because of the rehearsals that he did with our dancers and me leading into the final show,” Swift added. “If you liked the choreography that you saw of our dancers, you should have seen the footwork of our Steadicam operator.”

A Secret Show in L.A.

The previous day, on Tuesday, August 18, Swift performed an invitation-only show at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles.

The event, titled The Icon Sessions with Taylor Swift: A 20-Year Retrospective, was held exclusively for the Recording Academy Songwriters & Composers Wing, reports Just Jared.

Music producer Larry Dvoskin shared a recap of the event via Facebook, revealing that Swift performed a few songs and held a Q&A with the audience of about 100 while interviewed by Recording Academy president Harvey Mason Jr.

“Taylor came onstage and shared her beautiful stories of how she writes songs and where she gets her endless inspiration from. Then she played a few tunes for the 100 or so people there. It wasn’t even sold out, there were empty seats,” Dvoskin wrote.

“Enthusiasm can protect you from anything,” she told the audience, according to Dvoskin. She also told the crowd that the improv concept of “yes and” is a key facet of her songwriting process.

Dvoskin also shared his personal experience chatting with Swift, revealing that “she was in no hurry to move me along. There were several dozen songwriters behind us waiting to chat so I said goodbye first. That is how good Taylor Swift is in her quality of presence. A true star shines light upon us, we leave feeling brighter.”
