‘Bachelorette’ Star Charity Lawson Reveals Her & Fiancé Dotun Olubeko’s Surprising Wedding Rules

Charity Lawson is putting a personal touch on her upcoming wedding, sharing candid wedding decisions that reflect the couple’s values and priorities as she and fiancé Dotun Olubeko prepare for their big day.

‘Bachelorette’ Couple Charity Lawson & Dotun Olubeko’s Wedding Rules Revealed

The former “Bachelor” contestant and “Bachelorette” lead shared several thoughtful rules for the upcoming ceremony in a recent Instagram reel titled “Things I won’t be doing as a 2026 bride 💍” posted Feb. 2. Her candid comments, which quickly gained attention online, emphasized intention, joy and connection rather than tradition for traditions’ sake.

In the video, Lawson, who got engaged to Olubeko during season 20 of “The Bachelorette,” explained that they are choosing to limit certain typical wedding elements to ensure the event feels intimate and stress-free.

One of the couple’s most talked-about decisions was to keep the event adult-only.

“We are doing an adult-only wedding. I know, relax,” Lawson said, acknowledging that some may find the choice surprising. “Obviously, I love kids … We’re going to let loose, have fun. I want truly, to the walls loose, not having to worry about anything else.”

She also shared that plus-ones will be extended selectively. “Everyone will not be getting a plus-one to our wedding,” Lawson said. “If I don’t know your significant other, I’ve never met them, never had a conversation with them, it’s not happening. Have it at your wedding.”

Inside Charity Lawson & Dotun Olubeko’s Relationship & Wedding Plans

In the social media post, Lawson made it clear that not all traditional wedding activities will be part of the day, including the garter and bouquet toss.

“You will not catch Dotun crawling under my dress. It will not be taking place on the grounds of my wedding,” she said of the garter toss, adding with humor that such moments “are giving circus act. I’m not putting on a performance. That will happen in the honeymoon suite, thank you.”

Beyond setting rules, the former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant has previously emphasized that she and Olubeko are taking a relaxed, thoughtful approach to planning their wedding.

In a conversation with People last year, she provided insight into their relationship and wedding planning strategy. “We’re just not in a significant rush because … the last few months have been just a lot in terms of figuring out logistics for us,” she said. “So we’re just taking it day by day. We want it to be super meaningful, and I think that’s really important, especially with how we met.”
