Prince Harry is said not to have been invited to a key royal event, a source says, which would reunite him with other senior members of the House of Windsor.
The Duke of Sussex appears to remain distant from other senior royals amid ongoing tensions within the family. His absence from a high-profile gathering is likely to spark fresh speculation about the current state of his relationship with the monarchy.
Prince Harry Said to Not Be Invited to Cousin Peter Phillips’ Wedding
GettyAccording to a report by Hello! Magazine, Prince Harry is not on the guest list for his cousin, Peter Phillips’ wedding to Harriet Sperling.
A friend close to the couple was quoted by the outlet as to why Harry was excluded from the family guest list. “Peter and Harry haven’t spoken for several years and have simply lost touch, so he hasn’t been invited,” they stated.
Hello! noted that Harry and Phillips maintained a close family relationship for many years. Phillips was invited to the duke’s wedding to Meghan Markle in 2018. Harry was a guest at Phillips’ sister, Zara Tindall’s wedding to Mike Tindall in 2011. Phillips and Sperling’s wedding is the second marriage for both.
Harry has not been a part of many key royal events since he and Meghan Markle stepped down from their senior royal roles in 2020. The couple moved to California, where they are raising their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Relations between the Duke of Sussex and the royal family have become increasingly strained since he stepped back from royal duties. Prince Harry later detailed his complicated relationships with King Charles and Prince William in his memoir, “Spare,” and expanded on the family rift during high-profile interviews with Oprah Winfrey and the BBC.
Which Royal Family Members Are Invited to Peter Phillips’ Wedding?
GettyThe Daily Mail reports that the list of royal invitees includes King Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, Princess Anne (Peter Phillips’ mother), and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Lawrence.
Also reported to attend are Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Edward, and his wife, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh. Phillips’ sister Zara Tindall and her husband, Mike Tindall also made the list.
According to Hello!, Harry wasn’t the only royal family member said to be excluded from the guest list. Two other former key royals are also said not to be included.
Sarah Ferguson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor are not attending, said a royal source to the publication. “When and whether Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah Ferguson had been invited, it was probably not deemed appropriate to invite them. It’s Peter and Harriet’s special day, and clearly their attendance would cause a distraction to the whole day.”
When Will the Royal Wedding Take Place?
On April 1, a press representative for Phillips shared a statement with PEOPLE Magazine that Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling’s wedding will take place in a private ceremony on June 6. The couple announced their engagement in August 2025.
Gerard Franklin, the couple’s spokesperson, released a statement published by PEOPLE. It read, “Both families have been informed jointly of the wedding date by invitation. Their Majesties The King and Queen, The Prince and Princess of Wales, have also been informed of the announcement. Further details will be announced in due course.”
The couple dated for one year before announcing their engagement. HELLO! Magazine was the first to report the news and share images of Sperling’s diamond engagement ring.
