Prince William is breaking his usual royal silence in a rare, emotional interview. He’s sharing unexpected personal reflections on his marriage to Kate Middleton that are quickly drawing widespread attention.
The Prince of Wales opened up in a radio interview with Heart Breakfast about Kate’s strength, and how she’s faring since beating a cancer diagnosis in early 2024. He offered a more personal-than-usual glimpse into their life together, highlighting Kate’s resilience and the close bond that has helped them through a difficult period.
Prince William Called Kate Middleton ‘Amazing’
During an interview with Heart Breakfast hosts Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden, Prince William spoke candidly about his admiration for Kate Middleton. Over the past two years, the Princess of Wales has faced a public cancer battle. However, she continued to carry out her role within the royal family with resilience.
“She’s an amazing mum, an amazing wife. Literally, our family couldn’t cope without her, so, she’s been absolutely stunning, brilliant,” William declared.
He added, “She’s been amazing. She’s been through so much in the last couple of years, particularly.”
How Long Has Kate Middleton Been in Remission From Cancer
Kate Middleton was diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer in early 2024. The royal family shared a statement regarding her health on Jan. 17, 2024.
“Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to hospital yesterday for planned abdominal surgery,” said a statement posted to X. “The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for 10 to 14 days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”
Two months later, Kate took to Instagram to share her own remarks. During her absence from public duties, speculation ran rampant about the state of her health.
On March 22, 2024, Kate posted a video statement that cancer had been detected after a scheduled abdominal surgery the prior January. She stated that her cancer diagnosis, “came as a huge shock.”
The princess returned to a modified schedule of public appearances in the months after. But she did not further discuss her treatment or recovery until September 2024.
In a video statement, Kate reflected, “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.”
She added, “Doing what I can to stay cancer-free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long, and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”
