Leo Rosas, the young singer who captured hearts as a finalist on “The Voice” franchise, has passed away at just 27. Family members confirmed the news to El Deber earlier this month and requested privacy during this painful time. Multiple local reports confirmed his passing.
Leo Rosas Remembered as a Rising Star From Bolivia
Rosas rose to popularity as the Season 8 runner-up on “La Voz,” the Mexican version of “The Voice.”
On Yahir’s team, he connected deeply with audiences through his powerful vocals and sincerity on stage. Week after week, viewers watched a young artist chasing a dream that felt bigger than himself.
At a memorial gathering, his uncle Alfredo Mendoza spoke through the grief, remembering both the performer and the person.
“We must remember him as he wanted, as a great singer, a young man who dreamed and achieved success, and who represented Santa Cruz and Bolivia,” Mendoza said.
“He thrilled us, and we must remember him for what he was: a great man.”
Rosas was laid to rest on Monday at Las Misiones Garden Park Cemetery in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.
A religious ceremony was held on February 16 at Parque Jardín Las Misiones Cemetery, where loved ones gathered in prayer, music, and quiet reflection to honor a life that ended far too soon.
Cause of Death Not Confirmed
Authorities have not publicly confirmed a cause of death, and Rosas’ family has chosen not to release further details.
Media personality Marco Antelo claimed the singer was a “victim of depression,” though that statement was posted on Facebook. As news of his passing spread, Santa Cruz Governor Luis Fernando Camacho shared a heartfelt tribute recognizing Rosas’ cultural impact.
Camacho wrote: “Santa Cruz today says goodbye to a voice that accompanied our people with their music. The departure of Leo Rosas leaves a deep silence in his family, in his friends, and in all those who ever found in his song and in his words a piece of Crucian identity. From here, we send our sincere condolences and our sympathetic hug to his loved ones and to the entire team in the middle that was his home. His voice doesn’t turn off… will remain forever in the collective memory of Santa Cruz and in the cultural history of our land. May he rest in peace.”
Tributes Pour In From Artists & Friends
As news of his passing spread, fellow performers and industry figures shared tributes on social media.
Guisela Santa Cruz posted a photo alongside Rosas and wrote, “Dear Leo!! Until we meet again. My condolences to your family.”
Music producer Vladimir Suárez also honored him online, writing in Spanish:
“We’ll see each other at the end of the rainbow, dear brother, and there we will also continue making music… rest in peace. I can’t find the words (devastated really).”
A Loss That Follows Wife’s Death Two Years Ago
Rosas’ passing comes just over two years after he suffered another heartbreaking loss. His wife, Marian Montero Blanco, died in 2023 at 37 following a difficult battle with multiple sclerosis, a chronic disease that impacts the immune system.
At the time, Rosas spoke candidly about the weight of that grief. He shared the news of his beloved wife’s passing by sharing: “My beautiful and beloved mariancita… how much are you going to miss me, my love, today half of my heart was gone, my sweetheart… I will love you forever my sky… god bless you my love!!! 😭😭😭🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻””
“When it was Marian’s time, it cost me a lot, and I walked away. I remember that I told God to keep her alive and help her calm down. I stumbled thousands of times since she left, I have had a more complicated life,” he said.
Those words now feel even more poignant. Friends, fellow artists, and fans are mourning not only a talented performer, but a young man whose voice once carried comfort and hope for many.
At just 27, Rosas had already earned national recognition and proudly represented Santa Cruz on an international stage.
His family has asked for respect and privacy as they face this deep, devastating loss.
