Former “American Pie” star Shannon Elizabeth has revealed that she was largely forced to live off her savings for a decade before she found financial success outside of acting. The 52-year-old actress joined OnlyFans this year and was able to make more than $1 million just days after joining the service.
Elizabeth, who also had roles in “Scary Movie” and “Thirteen Ghosts,” became something of a sex symbol during the late 1990s and early 2000s. However, she has had more limited roles in the last two decades and dedicated much of her time to animal charities rather than professional work.
That meant that she was forced to survive by living off the money she had put away from her parts in her early successful teen comedies until she turned to OnlyFans earlier this year.
Shannon Elizabeth Says OnlyFans Gave Her Financial Freedom
According to Elizabeth, joining OnlyFans has transformed her finances, allowing her to be more selective about the work she does. This freedom means that she can choose roles and projects that genuinely appeal to her rather than picking roles based on what they pay.
People previously reported that Elizabeth made more than seven figures during her first week on the platform. Unlike many users on the site, though, the actress doesn’t post fully nude images to her subscribers.
“For the last ten years I’ve been living off of my savings for the most part because I haven’t been as focused on work,” she told Variety in a new interview. “I crossed $1 million in nine days.”
“It was really surprising, and I was honored that my fans came out and supported me. I had no idea what to expect, and the response has been really amazing. I’m chatting with people all the time and it’s been a lot of fun.”
Shannon Elizabeth Joined OnlyFans the Same Month She Filed for Divorce
Elizabeth’s career move coincided with a major upheaval in her personal life. In the same month that she joined OnlyFans, Elizabeth also announced that she had separated from her husband Simon Borchert.
She and the South African NGO executive and conservationist had been married since 2021, although they had known each other since 2015.
She quietly filed for divorce from husband Simon Borchert on April 16 — the same day her OnlyFans account officially launched.
At the time, she wrote a message on social media referencing the separation.
“There’s something about the ocean that resets everything — slows the noise, softens the edges, and brings you right back to what matters,” the actress wrote. “Grateful for these quiet moments, sandy paws, and unconditional love.”
According to the interview, Elizabeth knew very little about OnlyFans before her divorce and only investigated it as a possible source of revenue after discussing what she wanted to do next in her career with her manager. When announcing her move onto the site, the actress explained that she felt that it would give her more control of her image and life after spending years being influenced by others in Hollywood.
