“19 Kids & Counting” alum Johannah Duggar is reportedly set to get married next month. Rumors began swirling that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s sixth daughter was getting ready to walk down the aisle after an apparent wedding website surfaced online.
However, a marriage license was filed in Arkansas for Johannah Duggar and David Swanson, seemingly confirming the rumors.
Johannah’s Wedding
“We have breaking Duggar news: Johannah Duggar is getting married. So the registries that were floating around were real,” TikTok blogger, Mrs. Kickstand, shared on Tuesday, September 1.
Johannah, who turns 21 in October, is set to wed David Ames Swanson. David is the younger brother of Lauren Swanson, Johannah’s sister-in-law by marriage to her brother Josiah.
The exact date of the nuptials are unclear as the Zola website claims October 24, while The Knot states October 10. The soon-to-be newlyweds have registered for items such as a Le Creuset dutch oven, new bedding, a Cuisinart espresso machie, Home Depot and Target gift cards and funds toward their honeymoon.
The upcoming wedding marks the 14th for Jim Bob and Michelle’s children. Leaving just five children, James, Jackson, Jennifer, Jordyn-Grace, and Josie, left to be wed.
Who Is Johannah?
Johannah is the former TLC couple’s 16th child.
“Johannah was our first girl after 6 boys in a row!” the family’s website states. “She is fun and outgoing, and she loves making new friends. Johannah likes things neat and organized, and she’s constantly tidying up anything and everything around her. If one of the nieces or nephews comes in the door, drops shoes here, a backpack there, and a jacket over the back of the couch, she’ll instinctively come along, collect all the things, and have them waiting in a nice little pile by the front door.”
The biography continues, “And though she likes organization, Johannah has a good balance of structure and spontaneity. She’ll drop her own plans at the drop of a hat if she thinks someone else could use her help or assistance. She’s eager to lend a hand whether it’s that means spending the day on a job site with the brothers, or helping to clean out and organize someone’s storage unit. Some of her hobbies include playing volleyball with friends, and sketching/drawing.”
Johannah recently served as a bridesmaid in her eldest sister Jana Duggar’s August 2024 wedding to Stephen Wissmann. She is an aunt to 42 nieces and nephews, and was the last of the Duggar children to be born before the premiere of their TLC series.
Family Scandal
The news of the upcoming Duggar wedding comes just months after the family’s latest scandal involving Johannah’s brother Joseph. Joe was arrested in March for allegedly inappropriately touching a 9-year-old girl during a family vacation to Florida in 2020.
He was taken into custody and charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 12. He was released after posting a $600,000 bond. While Joseph pleaded not guilty to the charges, a no-contact order remains in place as the former reality star is only approved for supervised visitation of his children.
