“Sister Wives” star Kody Brown reveals what it would take for someone to become his new wife, and it all centers on his only remaining spouse, Robyn Brown.
In the show’s newest season, Kody opens up about the possibility of returning to polygamy after his failed marriages to Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine Woolley.
A teaser video shared on TLC’s Instagram shows Kody getting candid about plural marriage.
“A polygamist is getting more than he wants,” the reality star notes. “A monogamist isn’t getting enough.”
Kody Brown Wants This for His New Wife
Kody emphasizes that bringing another wife into the family isn’t something he and Robyn can just dive back into, especially after what happened to his other wives.
“I don’t mean to be salacious here, but we failed already,” the “Sister Wives” star reiterates. “It was very, very painful.”
Still, Kody is open to giving polygamy another shot under specific circumstances. He makes it clear that the ideal wife for him would be someone who totally adores Robyn.
“So, if I was to ever try this again, she would have to be an absolute diamond,” Kody points out. “And I’m not talking about just looks. I’m talking about the kind of devotion to us, to Robyn.”
‘Sister Wives’: No Competition for Robyn
Kody also claims he doesn’t mind not being intimate with the new wife, as long as she won’t be competing against Robyn.
“Just take the sex out completely, she would have to adore Robyn so much that I would never, ever have to worry about whether she’s competing with Robyn for my love and affection,” the “Sister Wives” star explains.
Kody has always been very vocal about his love for Robyn, even if it means hurting his other wives. Previously, he defended his “higher love” for Robyn despite the criticism he gets from it.
“You find higher love, and then everybody just slaps you down for it?” Kody said in a video shared by PEOPLE in May. “There’s a divine aspect about my relationship with Robyn, and we have been bitch slapped for it.”
Kody legally married Meri in April 1990, then entered spiritual marriages with Janelle in 1993 and Christine in 1994. In 2010, he spiritually married Robyn as well. However, in December 2014, Kody divorced Meri legally so he could legally marry Robyn instead.
