So far, viewers have watched the Brown family navigate tremendous changes on TLC’s “Sister Wives” season 20. For Kody Brown and Robyn Brown, a fresh start may be the key to healing. The couple believes their home in Flagstaff, Arizona, carries too many painful memories, and is hoping a change in scenery will bring peace to their lives.
However, in the Oct. 19 episode, Robyn opens up about the challenges of her new reality, admitting that living monogamously was never part of her dream. She always envisioned sharing a plural marriage, and her struggles have Kody questioning his “value” in their relationship.
Robyn Brown Reflects on Navigating a New Chapter
GettyOn season 20 of “Sister Wives,” Kody Brown’s remaining wife, Robyn Brown, has been candid about the challenges of transitioning into a monogamous marriage with her husband after his three other wives, Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine Brown Woolley, chose to part ways with the family patriarch.
In the Oct. 19 episode of the TLC series, Robyn shares in a confessional that her new life with Kody is not what she envisioned.
“Sure, being the only wife is great in some ways, but there’s also ways that it’s not great,” Robyn shared. “This was not the life that I expected and not the life that I planned for myself.”
She continued, “While I love Kody, I did not ever intend or expect or want to have him to myself. I always wanted to live plural marriage. I wanted to live my religion.”
Kody can sense that Robyn is not exactly happy she is no longer living a plural marriage. In fact, it makes him question his “value” to his wife.
“She married me under the premise of plural marriage with the expectation of plural marriage,” he says. “When the other wives left, I wondered if my value to her was diminished. I’m still wondering.”
Christine was the first wife to separate from Kody in November 2021. Janelle followed a year later, ending her marriage to him in December 2022, and Meri officially dissolved their spiritual union just a month after that. Their departure left Robyn as Kody’s remaining wife. However, after their separations, the Brown family was left fractured.
Kody Brown & Robyn Believe That Moving to a New Home Will Help Them Find Peace
During the episode, Kody speaks to his brother and shares how he and Robyn believe that moving into a new home will help them find healing. The couple believes they can find peace within their relationship and, hopefully, with Kody’s other adult children, with a change of scenery.
“Robyn and I have lived in Flagstaff for six years. Five of those years have been in this house. These five years have been the five years that my family has just eroded, crumbled, and moved on,” he shares.
Kody adds that their Flagstaff home holds “emotional trauma” that also includes the passing of his son, Garrison Brown, who died of suicide in March 2024.
In the Oct. 12 episode, fans learn that the couple is not moving far and is remaining in Flagstaff. Robyn shares of the move, “The new home for me is like a new beginning.”
Kody adds, “It’s a new beginning, a place for my kids to come to. This house is simply a new opportunity to invite them here, potentially enjoy their company here.”
“This house had a series of sad events. I start breaking up with my family … just one thing after another, I get news of Garrison’s passing. This house has pain,” he shares.
The end of the Oct. 19 episode sees the Brown family saying goodbye to their home. Robyn shares that she had her own personal goodbye, and tears up knowing that this was the last place where she was a sister wife.
