Sarah Jessica Parker Wistfully Recalls ‘Most Insane’ Late-Night Costume Fittings on ‘Sex and the City’ Set

Actress and television producer Sarah Jessica Parker has revealed all about the late-night wardrobe fittings the cast endured while working on the iconic romantic comedy-drama show “Sex and the City” and its sequel series “And Just Like That…

The star, 61, appeared in 94 episodes of “Sex and the City” (1998-2004) and 33 episodes of “And Just Like That…” (2021-2025), as well as the 2008 “Sex and the City” movie and its 2010 sequel, “Sex and the City 2” (per IMDb).

In an exclusive chat with People, Parker wistfully described some of the costume-related craziness that went on after dark while she was starring in the franchise.

Looking back at her years in the “Sex and the City” universe, and the late-night costume fittings that regularly occurred, Sarah Jessica Parker told People, “It would be 2 or 3 or 4 a.m., and we had just finished shooting, and I was in a fitting and they would have some of the most insane stuff.”

Parker went on, “There are Polaroids. There is documentation of these things. I would put anything on for them, because you never know.”

The actress then described the whole situation as “just so ridiculous,” but she clearly enjoyed every second of it.

Referring to creative team member and costume designer Molly Rogers, the actress added, “It was so much fun, and none of us had kids, none of us had to run home for any reason. I will absolutely put anything on for Molly Rogers.”

The “Sex and the City” franchise is undoubtedly what Parker is known best for, so there’s no wonder she looks back on it fondly, despite the late nights.

Today, Sarah Jessica Parker remains extremely busy in the worlds of acting, producing, brand partnerships, and public life.

She’s currently filming the fantasy comedy sequel movie “Hocus Pocus 3,” in which she will reprise her role as the dim-witted witch Sarah Sanderson. It’s not yet known when that will release.

Parker is also working as a producer on the biographical documentary film “Bang My Box: The Robin Byrd Story.” Per IMDb, “Bang My Box: The Robin Byrd Story traces the rise of a boundary-pushing, sex-positive, cable-access pioneer who became an accidental AIDS-era lifeline and First Amendment fighter. Now at 70, with 600 shows behind her, she considers her place in the history she created.” That one will release sometime this year.

Posts on her Instagram account also show that she’s in the business of winemaking. Her SJP brand produces the most interesting concoctions, such as a Sauvignon Blanc made with jalapeño peppers.

Moreover, last month, she met with Britain’s Queen Camilla at the New York Public Library. The meeting occurred during Camilla’s U.S. state visit with King Charles III, where they discussed their shared love of literacy and promoted Camilla’s charity, The Queen’s Reading Room.

We’ll look forward to seeing Sarah Jessica Parker in “Hocus Pocus 3” and wish her well with everything else she has planned for the future.
