The much-loved actor and retired professional boxer Tony Danza has given an impromptu singing performance in a sunny New York City street.
Danza sang a well-known pop standard outside of the cozy Manny’s Bistro in the leafy Upper West Side in Manhattan, much to the delight of onlooking New Yorkers.
It isn’t the first time Danza has done such a thing. In the summer of 2025, he was spotted singing the Steve Allen classic “This Could Be the Start of Something Big” outside the same establishment.
Danza is known for starring in movies like 1980’s “The Hollywood Knights,” 1981’s “Going Ape!,” 1989’s “She’s Out of Control,” 1994’s “Angels in the Outfield,” 2004’s “Crash,” and 2013’s “Don Jon” (per IMDb).
However, he is, of course, most famous for appearing in the television series “Who’s the Boss?” and “Taxi.” It’s somewhat appropriate, therefore, that his recent street performance was filmed by someone waiting for a cab.
Tony Danza Sang ‘Everything Happens to Me’
Tony Danza sang “Everything Happens to Me” outside Manny’s Bistro. Per Discogs, the pop standard, written by Tom Adair and Matt Dennis, has been recorded by the likes of Frank Sinatra, the Kirk Lightsey Trio with Chet Baker, Rosemary Clooney, and Nat King Cole.
WCBS-TV’s weather guy, John Elliott, recorded the footage and shared it on his Instagram account with his 10,400 followers.
The video captures Danza singing the part of the song that goes as follows: “I’ve telegraphed and phoned, sent an Air Mail Special, too. You answer was ‘Goodbye,’ there was even postage due. I fell in love just once and then it had to be with you. Everything happens to me.”
Elliott captioned the post, “Only in New Yorkโฆ. Saw @tonydanza while I was waiting for aโฆ. TAXI ๐.”
This performance isn’t Danza’s only link with Sinatra. He is a huge fan of the late legend and, in 2025, he playfully recalled singing for him at his televised 80th birthday party in 1995.
Sinatra apparently approved of Danza โ which is something he and John Elliott’s followers on Instagram appear to have in common.
Instagram Users Loved Danza and His Performance
GettyJohn Elliott’s followers flocked to the comments section of his post to have their say on Tony Danza’s street performance โ and the response was universally positive about the star.
One of his followers wrote, “Hes a Real NYC guy. Tony Danza is the type of dude that used to grow up in NYC.”
Another Instagram user said, “He always has good hair!!”
One individual added, “No joke no joke Tony danza one of the coolest New Yorkers real New Yorker.”
Someone else commented, “Real cool dude that’s what I thought I seen him rollerblading Down Columbus or up by Lincoln center when you used to have the show on what a cool dude still looks good hanging tough real New Yorker.”
Finally, another person noted, “Thatโs a man of men. Love this guy. What a talent and inspiration to everyone.”
Suffice it to say that Tony Danza is looked upon fondly in his home city. Moreover, he’s one heck of a talented singer. Keep up the great work, Tony!
