“American Idol” judge Carrie Underwood recently set the record straight about the rumored beef with Nikki Glaser, after the stand-up comedian served as a guest judge in Season 24.
Nikki Glaser Was a Guest Judge on ‘American Idol’ for Taylor Swift Night
On April 27, Glaser served as a guest judge during Taylor Swift Night. The episode featured the Top 7 contestants — Daniel Stallworth, Keyla Richardson, Jordan McCullough, Chris Tungseth, Hannah Harper, Brooks Rosser, and Braden Rumfelt — singing their versions of the pop star’s songs. Ultimately, Stallworth and Rosser were sent home that night.
As a Swift super fan, Glaser was a fitting choice for the job. Underwood even took to Instagram to praise her after the “American Idol” episode, writing, “Had a fun night with the beautiful and hilarious @nikkiglaser joining us as a guest judge tonight on @americanidol! 😂 ✨.”
Glaser popped into the comments to reply, “Thank you for being so kind and cool! A true dream sitting next to you!”
Carrie Underwood Shut Down Rumors of Tension With Nikki Glaser
On May 5, the “Before He Cheats” singer appeared on Sirius XM’s Highway Mornings with Cody Alan. Host Cody Alan brought up the online speculation that Underwood and Glaser did not get along during the latter’s guest-hosting stint on “American Idol.”
“I’m like, ‘Do you know Carrie Underwood?’ Like, she’s never going to be a mean person,” Alan said of the online commentary about tension between the two women. “They want to cause a catfight over the smallest little thing.”
To that, the “American Idol” Season 4 winner, 43, praised the “FBoy Island” host, 41, sharing, “And I think she did such a great job because it’s not an easy thing to come sit behind that desk and try to think of constructive things to say. And I don’t know, I feel like she did everything wonderfully.”
Underwood then set the record straight, insisting, “But no, there’s no beef. I have no beef.”
‘American Idol’ Viewers Speculated About Bad Blood Between Glaser and Underwood
ABCIn the comments of Underwood’s Instagram post featuring Glaser, fans wondered if there was beef between the women behind the scenes. One Instagram user insisted, “But there was so much tension between them, right?? Bffr😂😂.”
A second follower agreed, writing, “Yes, that’s what I was seeing!”
Someone else pointed out, “Carrie didn’t look like she enjoyed Nikki sitting next to her. Rarely looked at her during the show.”
A different fan asked, “Did you, though?” of Underwood having a “fun night” with Glaser. “Because every take, you looked like you were not enjoying yourself…”
Meanwhile, yet another Instagram user commented, “She was awkward trying to be nice. Gritting through her teeth to do it.”
