Hannah Harper: 5 Fast Facts on the ‘American Idol’ Finalist

Missouri singer Hannah Harper has become one of the breakout stars of “American Idol” season 24. From her emotional original audition song to her rise into the “American Idol” 2026 finale, Harper has connected with viewers through heartfelt storytelling, country vocals, and her life as a young mom chasing a dream. Before tonight’s finale, check out five fast facts about Hannah Harper right here.

1. Stay-at-Home Mom of Three

Before coming to audition for “American Idol,” Hannah described herself as a stay-at-home mom raising her three sons with her husband, Devon. The 25-year-old contestant from Willow Springs, Missouri, quickly stood out. She openly talked about motherhood and balancing family life with music.

Hannah spent years putting music on the back burner while she was focused on raising her kids. In early 2026, she shared on social media about praying about whether or not to pursue a solo country music career.

She wasn’t sure if auditioning for “American Idol” was the right path for her. Now that she’s in the finale, I think she chose the right path.

2. Her Original Song Went Viral

Hannah jumped on the scene after her audition aired on ABC. During it, she performed an original song called “String Cheese.” The emotional song was inspired by her struggles with postpartum depression after the birth of her youngest child.

Carrie Underwood was visibly emotional during the audition, as I am sure most women and moms out there watching were. Carrie praised Hannah afterward, even saying she was one of her favorite contestants to step in front of her this season.

The audition quickly gained traction online and has been viewed millions of times on the American Idol social media pages.

3. She Got Her Start in Her Family Bluegrass Band

As her social media post said earlier this year, she was contemplating pursuing a solo country music career. While she is currently working on that, Hannah got her start performing in her family’s bluegrass band, now known as The Harper Collective.

Hannah performed in the family’s band for seven years. The Harper Collective consisted of her mom and dad, Katrina and Gaylon, her siblings Dillon and Dalton, and Dillon’s wife, Makeena.

Harper’s father worked a job at the lead mine, but he quit in order for the family to pursue music full-time. They got a 40-foot-long tour bus and traveled the country from coast-to-coast performing.

The Harper Collective did go on to win the SPBGMA International Band Contest in 2010. The group also recorded two albums together for Pisgah Ridge and Crossroads Records.

4. Married for 8 Years

Besides the three sons, Hannah is also a married woman. She is married to Devon Mendenhall. The happy couple got married in April 2018.

According to his Instagram bio, he is a “fishing addict.” Hannah has talked about her husband on the show, saying he has been taking care of the kids while she is pursuing her dreams on “American Idol.”

5. Surprise Visitor During Her Hometown Visit

Hannah has made her way into the Top 3. Because of that, she got to do a hometown visit in Willow Springs this past week, where her hometown rallied around her.

In addition, she got one of the biggest surprises of her life when country star Jo Dee Messina unexpectedly showed up at her show and joined Harper onstage during a performance of “Heads Carolina, Tails California.”

Do you think Hannah can win “American Idol” season 24?
