Ashley Tisdale Stuns in ‘High School Musical’ Outfits 20 Years Later

Disney Channel star Ashley Tisdale honored the “High School Musical” 20th anniversary in the best way: by trying on her iconic outfits from the 2006 film.

Ashley Tisdale’s Iconic Instagram Post

With “High School Musical” premiering exactly 20 years ago, Tisdale took to Instagram to show off some of Sharpay’s best looks from the first film in the trilogy. In the video, Tisdale appears to be in a storage facility, strutting down the aisle in various Sharpay costumes.

“Bop to the Top” plays during the video, so it’s only fitting that Tisdale started with the song’s gorgeous blue dress. From there, the outfits moved in reverse chronological order. Tisdale showed off Sharpay’s pink skirt and matching blazer while holding the character’s Sidekick cell phone. Finally, she donned a pink-and-purple skirt, light pink top, and sparkly-silver cardigan, the same outfit she wore for the film’s “What I’ve Been Looking For” musical number.

The text over the video read, “You can take the girl out of East High… but you can’t take Sharpay out of the girl.” As for the caption, Tisdale wrote, “20 years and two babies later I’m still squeezing into these looks.”

In a separate Instagram post featuring images from the film and behind-the-scenes moments, Tisdale wrote a heartfelt caption. “20 years ago we had no idea what this would turn into. I’m so grateful for what this movie has given me, and for the fans who made it what it is,” she wrote. “To be part of something this iconic, that still has new fans discovering it today, is truly wild. It keeps growing in ways I never imagined. I love you, Sharpay. And let me just say… we’re still looking fabulous!”

Fans rushed to the comments to express delight with the video. “She’s a diva, she’s a legend,” one fan wrote. Another said, “You’ll always be our fabulous Sharpay!” A third simply commented, “Iconic.”

Ashley Tisdale’s Disney Career

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – MAY 31: Ashley Tisdale attends the world premiere of the new season of Disney’s “Phineas And Ferb” at Nya Studios.

“High School Musical” wasn’t Tisdale’s first foray into Disney Channel. She shot to fame as one of the leads of “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody,” a sitcom about twins who live in a hotel. Tisdale played Maddie, a teenager who works at the candy counter in the hotel.

“The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” had a “High School Musical” themed episode, in which the characters’ school is putting on a production of the Disney Channel musical film. Throughout the episode, Maddie says people tell her she looks just like the girl who plays Sharpay, but none of the other characters agree, a charming and comical running gag.

Tisdale also voiced a main character in “Phineas and Ferb,” an animated show about two stepbrothers who spend their summer vacation creating elaborate inventions and causing chaos. Tisdale played Candace, the older sister who’s constantly trying to bust her brothers and get them in trouble for their shenanigans.

Tisdale participated in more animated Disney projects beyond “Phineas and Ferb.” She also voiced a character in “A Bug’s Life,” and was in a few episodes of “Kim Possible.”
