Duff and Carter sparked dating rumors around 2000. The next year, Carter famously appeared on the Christmas episode “Here Comes Aaron Carter” of “Lizzie McGuire” as a popstar filming a video for his cover of “I Want Candy.” Lizzie and her friends sneak onto the set and manage to get themselves cast in the video as elves. Then Lizzie also gets a kiss from Carter.

However, there rumors that Lohan was involved with Lohan around the same time period. Duff addressed the teenage love triangle on the podcast, saying, “This is where all this stuff started. There was no social media to be like, who was dating who. You just take people’s word for it and then people get mad at you. I mean if you’re, like, Lindsay Lohan or me, he’s, like, probably dating both of us, like, you know what I mean?”

Duff said she first met the late “Aaron’s Party” singer at a birthday party where the Olsen twins and Amanda Bynes were also present. She recalled, “There was, like, some cute sparks. And then I think I pitched the idea of having him come on the show.” She added, “He was so cute.”

Duff said she and Lohan squashed their beef several years back. She explained, “Lindsay came up to me at a club once and was like, ‘Are we good?’ And I was like, ‘We’re good.’ She was like, ‘Let’s take a shot.’ I’m like, ‘Okay.’ It was amazing.”

Meanwhile, Duff reacted to the news by writing on Instagram, “For Aaron — I’m deeply sorry that life was so hard for you and that you had to struggle in-front of the whole world. You had a charm that was absolutely effervescent…boy did my teenage self love you deeply. Sending love to your family at this time. Rest easy.”
