Brooke Williamson says fans should get ready for “a lot of excitement” when “BBQ Brawl” returns — and this time, she and Bobby Flay are bringing their real-life chemistry to the competition. The celebrity chef and her boyfriend recently wrapped filming the show’s newest season in Texas, and Williamson teased that the upcoming episodes will deliver “lots of twists and turns.”
Brooke Williamson Teases a ‘Wild, Hot, Fun Western Season’ of ‘BBQ Brawl’
Speaking with People at the Grand Tasting: After Dark during the New York City Wine and Food Festival on Saturday, October 18, Williamson shared new details about what fans can expect from the next season of the hit Food Network competition.
“The format has shifted a little bit,” she revealed. “New captains, new judges. It’s going to be a wild, hot, fun western season.”
Williamson and Flay, who went public with their relationship in March, had just flown in from filming the latest season in Texas. While this will be the first time the couple appears on “BBQ Brawl” as romantic partners, Flay reminded fans that their professional partnership goes back further than that. “We shot this show before we started actually officially dating,” he told the outlet ahead of season 6.
Last season of “BBQ Brawl” premiered on June 1 and featured 12 brawlers competing in teams led by Flay, Maneet Chauhan, and Antonia Lofaso. Judges included Williamson, Carson Kressley, and Rodney Scott.
Flay said the season had “serious renewed energy” thanks to his co-captains’ preparation. “They were practicing, cooking, all this sort of live-fire cooking, and they really brought their own sort of energy and attitude and obviously flavors to it,” he said. “They kept me on my toes the entire time.”
The ‘BBQ Brawl’ Co-Stars Spark Engagement Buzz

Flay and Williamson’s off-screen connection has become as talked about as their kitchen skills. The “Bobby’s Triple Threat” host made headlines earlier this month when he posted a photo of Williamson’s hand — and a sparkling diamond ring — on his Instagram Stories. Over the picture, he wrote, “it’s casual.”
The post immediately set off engagement rumors, with fans flooding social media and Reddit threads to speculate. One commenter wrote, “Excuse me… your story….. 💍.” But eagle-eyed fans quickly pointed out that the ring was on her right hand, noting the same tattoos visible from Williamson’s earlier TV appearances.
A source close to the couple confirmed to People that the chefs are not engaged, saying, “It was a gift from Bobby. I’ve never seen them happier and they are fully committed to one another.”
