The ‘Ultimate Baking Championship’ Star is the ‘Happiest’ He’s ‘Ever Been’
The “Ultimate Baking Championship” star claims, “I am literally the happiest I’ve ever been in my entire life at this moment.” He formally introduced his first son via PEOPLE, Samurai Jack, who weighed in at 7 lbs. 5 oz.
“I think that I’m most excited about, you know, getting a shot at just raising a real good little man,” the baker admitted.
Samurai Jack joins his big sister, Josephine, 5. He is the second child of Goldman, 51, and Johnna, 32.
Goldman revealed that he believes Josephine already has the makings of a great big sister. He revealed, “It was amazing for me, like, just seeing her face when she was, like, confronted with, like, a real little person that was the size of one of her dolls and, you know, she, like, didn’t wanna hurt him or break him.”
He added that his older daughter is “a strong-willed, opinionated, and confident young lady. She runs the house, man, you know? She’s like Louise on ‘Bob’s Burgers.’”
Why Did Duff Goldman and Wife Johnna Choose Such a Unique Name For Their Son?
Samurai Jack’s unique name was special to Duff Goldman. It stuck with him since childhood.
However, the baby is not named after the beloved cartoon figure. He told PEOPLE, “We didn’t name our son after Samurai Jack, the cartoon. It just kind of worked out that way.”
Goldman explained the reason he chose the unique name for his son. “When I was a kid, the coolest dude that we knew when I was younger, his name was Sam. He was the first one to build a skateboard ramp of all of our friends and was the best skater. He was the best surfer and always threw the biggest tricks.”
“And I was like, ‘I’m gonna name my son Sam, because Sam’s a cool name,’” he explained. “And I was like, ‘What if instead of, like, Samuel, or Sam, his actual name on his birth certificate was Samurai?” he added.
The Goldmans first announced they were welcoming their second child via Instagram in November 2025. He wrote, “Oh boy! Johnna has another bun in the oven! I think Josephine is going to be the best big sister ever.”
Johnna praised her husband’s parenting skills in a 2025 Father’s Day post. She wrote that Goldman was “a father that has been a tremendous example of what a loving man, husband, and father should be.”
Duff Goldman stars on “The Ultimate Baking Championship” and “Baking Championship, Next Gen.”
