Martha Stewart Confronts Star Who Caused Her Painful Injury 1 Year Later

Martha Stewart has finally recovered from a painful toe injury sustained while sitting courtside at a New York Knicks basketball game in 2025. Now, one year later, the beloved author confronted the star who caused her pain.

Martha Stewart Confronts NBA Star

Stewart was enjoying the Knicks versus the Indiana Pacers game at Madison Square Garden last year, when suddenly Jalen Brunson collided with the front row and smashed Stewart’s toe.

Stewart appeared on Brunson’s podcast, “The Roommate Show,” on March 26, where they dished about the painful collision.

The beloved homemaker revealed that the NBA star apologized and “sent me a basketball too for my grandson.”

“You didn’t know. I mean, it’s not your fault. It’s my fault for wearing open-toed shoes,” the 84-year-old said.

Brunson revealed that he does not remember the incident, but his father informed him of the ordeal.

“You had no idea that you had hurt me. I didn’t say you hurt me, but I said it’s okay. It wasn’t okay at all,” Stewart said.

She went on to say that her doctor, who claimed to have also treated Brunson in the past, named her injury the “Stewart Brunson Fracture.”

“But it was actually a break. So anyway, it’s better now. It took two years or one year. Took
one year to heal,” she continued. “I think it was last April.”

Brunson admitted he doesn’t “feel too great” knowing that he caused Stewart pain.

Martha Stewart Previously Revealed Her Injury to Jimmy Fallon

In December 2025, eight months after her injury, the cookbook author opened up to Jimmy Fallon about her terrifying injury.

The host explained that he sat courtside recently but was terrified of “getting in the way.”

“Never, ever wear open-toed shoes to a game like that when you’re sitting on the floor,” Stewart warned. “‘Cause Jalen, who’s now like, super duper — I mean, isn’t he doing really well this year? So Jalen Brunson — I have the Brunson fracture. He stepped on my big toe on this foot. That’s why I’m wearing open-toed shoes, because that’s the only kind of shoes I can wear now.”

The injury occurred during the “last five minutes of the game,” she recalled. However, when the game went into overtime, Stewart said the injury became “more painful” as she could not get up to seek medical attention.

“I knew it was broken immediately…And he didn’t know he broke my foot. But he broke my foot,” she said, joking that he has “big feet.” “I told his parents. I met his parents…They thought it was so funny.”
