We have another night of auditions on “MasterChef” season 16 tonight on FOX. It’s time for Night 3 of the auditions, and the next region up on “MasterChef: Global Gauntlet” is Africa. Africa Auditions on ‘MasterChef’
For tonight’s episode, Gordon Ramsay and his fellow judges will be continuing their Global Gauntlet, this time in the Africa region. Flavors and traditions from across the region will be showcased tonight. All of these home cooks want to remain in the competition and be named the winner of “MasterChef” season 16.
Signature dishes will be the highlight, as the contestants will try to impress all three judges. They need three yes votes to get an apron and remain in the competition. The chefs will be competing with $250,000 on the line as the battle for global supremacy continues tonight on “MasterChef” 2026. Who stays and who goes home on “MasterChef” tonight? April 29 Live Recap – Auditions Night 3

Night 3 Begins
The judges are in place, and they have five more aprons to hand out tonight. Africa is up tonight, so time to get things started.
These amateur chefs will be making their signature dishes for the judges. They must get three yes votes from the judges to get an apron. One no vote, and they are going home.
First Batch of Home Cooks
The first batch of home cooks is creating their signature dishes. The time runs out, and time to present them to the judges:
- Nadine – Joe said it looks great, loves the color of it. The rice looks fluffy. Tiffany said she expected the flavors to be stronger with peanut butter and coconut. Because of that, it’s a no from Tiffany.
- Nora – Gordon said it looks good, but the pressure of cooking lamb. Gordon cuts into it, and he said it looks good. Joe said he loves it when a dish reflects the person who cooked it. This is stylish and elegant, and it comes together on the palette. Gordon said the lamb is cooked beautifully, and it almost melts in your mouth. The judges all loved it, so it’s three yes votes and an apron for Nora.
- Rita – Gordon said it looks good, the steak looks great. It’s delicious. Tiffany said the steak has so much flavor, but wondering if it’s enough. She has two yes votes, but is waiting to hear from Gordon. He said it’s a no to the risotto, but a yes to the apron. He told her to stick to her roots.
Next Set of Chefs
Another set of chefs has started making their signature dishes. The time runs out on these chefs, and time for the judges to taste:
- Dave – Joe said this is impressive. It’s all kind of authentically correct. Tiffany said it’s good. There is acid, there is smoke, and it’s perfectly in good balance. Gordon and Joe also loved it, so it’s three yes votes, and Dave gets an apron.
- Abel – Gordon said this dish is steeped in tradition, but something seems to be missing. Tiffany said she loves the spice he has going on. They want that sauce he kept off. There is good here, but she wanted more of it. It’s a no from Tiffany.
- Heidi – The Chilean sea bass is cooked beautifully. It’s delicious. He said it doesn’t remind him of South Africa. Tiffany said she did great, but doesn’t get the South African flavors. Joe agrees she can cook, but not the flavors of South Africa. Gordon said he is going with his gut, and Heidi walks out with an apron on “MasterChef” season 16.
One Last Apron To Go
The judges on “MasterChef: Global Gauntlet’ have handed out four aprons tonight, so only one more to go! The time runs out on this next batch of chefs, so here goes the tasting:
- Meryhan – Gordon said it looks appetizing, and he’s dying to dig in. Joe said it’s really interesting. Gordon said the fish is cooked beautifully, but the rice is sweet. Tiffany said the rice feels dense and extremely dense. Joe is shocked, but he says yes. Tiffany said it’s difficult. She can’t get past the rice, so it’s a no from her.
- Peter – Tiffany said it looks beautiful, but she needs the flavors of Nigeria on the plate. Joe said it’s unusual. A bunch of contrasts, but that’s what you want. You want to challenge your palette. Tiffany said she appreciates it, but she wants more of the sauce. However, she can taste Nigeria in the plate, so she’s a yes. It’s a yes from Gordon, too, so Peter gets an apron.

With all the aprons handed out for tonight, the five amateur chefs representing Africa on “MasterChef: Global Gauntlet” are:
