Ree Drummond Reveals Who Only Has Eyes for Her—and It’s Not Her Husband Ladd

“The Pioneer Woman” star Ree Drummond shared a photo of a man who only has eyes for her, and it’s not her husband of 29 years, Ladd Drummond.

The Food Network television star posted a dreamy photo of her beloved basset hound, who made loving eyes at his human mom. The sweet moment quickly charmed fans, with many noting the undeniable bond between the pair.

Ree Drummond Reveals Who Has Her Heart, And It’s Her Dog

In a new Instagram post, Ree Drummond shared a portrait of one of her beloved basset hounds. The dog’s unmistakably adoring gaze won over fans of the longtime Food Network star.

Drummond captioned the photo, “He’s obsessed with me,” as the pup stared directly into the camera, perched upon a bright green pillow on Ree’s sofa.

Fans were quick to respond to the celebrity chef’s post. They shared their remarks about the photo and the close bond Drummond shares with all her animals.

One fan penned, “I’m obsessed with you both.” A second fan added, “Aren’t you obsessed with him too?”

“He’s only got eyes for you,” claimed a third Instagram user. A fourth noted, “He’s such a sweetie… and so handsome!”

In 2020, Drummond showed her followers she wasn’t the only one in love with their brood of pets. She captioned a Facebook video of her husband, Ladd, playing with their dogs.

“I thought you might like to see my husband saying hi to the dogs before he went to feed cattle this morning. (Pardon the glare, I was filming him through the window. I’m creepy that way).

Fred the Basset Hound is an Integral Part of the Drummond Family

The Drummond family includes five dogs, including Yellow Labs Duke and Lucy, German Shepherd Presley, and Basset Hounds Henry and Fred. Additionally, her daughters, Alex Drummond Scott and Paige Drummond Anderson, also have dogs: George and Murphy.

Fred is so involved in family life that he inserted himself into one of the clan’s biggest days when he decided he wanted to be a groomsman for Paige’s wedding. He subsequently became one of the biggest stars of the day.

In a post on the Pioneer Woman website, Fred helped out on the ranch while the family set up for the event. “Fred wants to be a groomsman,” Ree captioned a cute clip that she shared on her Instagram story.

In a second clip, Drummond added that all of the dogs were an integral part of the festivities. “We could not have done this without Fred and Rusty’s input,” she joked.

The Drummond dogs also made an appearance at her daughter Alex, and son-in-law Mauricio Scott’s wedding in 2021. In an Instagram post, Drummond shared a sweet photo of Mauricio and Alex during their reception. They were surprised by Ree’s Basset Hounds, who thrilled guests with their appearance.

“My basset hounds crashed the wedding. They heard the commotion and walked 1.8 miles down the road to the reception. Okay, bye,” Drummond quipped.

Drummond shared in 2025 that she has a deep love for all of her ranch animals, but particularly her Basset Hounds. “I’ve loved bassets all my life!” she revealed. “Their excess skin, floppy ears, droopy eyes, and hilarious personalities keep me entertained and make my heart leap.”

Ree Drummond’s dogs (and her human family) make regular appearances on her Food Network television series, “The Pioneer Woman.”
