‘Friends’ NYC Apartment Building Sells for Almost $33 Million — Find Out What That Includes!

If you’re a fan of “Friends,” then at one point or another you might have imagined yourself living in the chic New York City apartment building which was the home of characters’ Rachel, Monica, Joey and Chandler. While the interior was shot in a studio in Los Angeles, the West Village building that served as the exterior just sold for $32.7 million.

According to city records via the New York Post, Jeff Sutton’s Wharton Properties sold the building which is located at 90 Bedford St. The apartments were snapped up by JP Real Estate Group Limited — and a “mysterious, reportedly youthful owner.”

While the buyer hasn’t been named directly, he’s apparently a “Japanese businessman” who is “fairly young, and quite wealthy.”

What Does the Building Have to Offer?

What does nearly $33 million buy in New York City? Well, the new owner of the “Friends” apartment building has nabbed an investment that boasts plenty of perks.

“Anchoring a coveted West Village corner stands 90 Bedford — a landmark pre-war building instantly recognizable as one of television’s most famous addresses,” according to StreetEasy.

“Behind the celebrated exterior, discover homes where masterful design meets uncompromising craftsmanship,” StreetEasy continues while pointing out the “exceptional level of finish” found in each apartment.

Indeed, along with “custom Italian kitchens with professional-grade appliances” and “spa-inspired bathrooms featuring bespoke cabinetry and hand-selected stone,” there are also wide-plank hardwood floors.

“Original architectural elements” have been preserved, including exposed brick walls and grand double-paned sash windows. The intention was to “celebrat[e] authentic West Village charm while embracing modern luxury.”

Those modern aspects include a “sophisticated” security system, Sonos sound systems and USB outlets.

For residents who want to spend a little time outdoors, the building also features a landscaped rooftop terrace with views of Manhattan.

As for the area, the building is steps away from trendy restaurants and boutiques.

StreetEasy notes that “90 Bedford offers an unmatched opportunity to write your own chapter in one of Manhattan’s most beloved addresses — one that continues to capture imaginations while setting a new standard for sophisticated city living.”

How Much Would It Cost to Live in the Building?

While all of the apartments are currently leased, you might be wondering how much it costs to live in the iconic building. As you might assume, it’s not exactly cheap.

To give you an idea of what residents pay, a two-bedroom rented in July for $8,500 per month, according to The Real Deal, while the New York Post points out that another two-bedroom was snapped up in late November at $6,500.
