Sandra Bullock is in the midst of promoting “Practical Magic 2,” the long-awaited sequel to the 1998 hit that reunites her with Nicole Kidman.
During one of the stops on the movie’s promotional tour, the topic of cocktails arose when the co-stars engaged in a People questionnaire.
A ‘Heavy Pour’
During the questionairre, Kidman asked Bullock for her “go-to Margarita recipe.”
“I don’t do it but a girlfriend of mine makes a very potent fresh one,” Bullock replied, which led Kidman to ask her to identify said girlfriend.
“Jen,” Bullock replied, referring to former “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston, a longtime pal.
“I knew it,” Kidman exclaimed.
“I don’t know what she does,” Bullock said of Aniston’s margaritas. “She has a heavy pour.”
“Jen, you got to invite me over,” Kidman implored, looking at the camera.
“It is fierce,” Bullock continued. “And she [uses] fresh limes, and she has a way to do it [where] it’s frothy, it’s so good and it will knock you on your ass. And it has.”
Bullock confirmed that Aniston’s concoctions have been responsible for more than one rough morning. “Anytime I have suffered, it’s been at her hands, but it’s so good,” she joked.
“That’s hilarious,” Kidman said, once again directing her conversation to the camera and asking, “Okay Jen, you got to share that one.”
Fast Friends
As Bullock explained, her friendship with Aniston was an unlikely one, revealing she’d been warned that they “weren’t supposed to” befriend one another.
As she told Vanity Fair, they wound up ignoring that advice. “We were from that time in the business where no one wanted the ladies to be friends — it was about pitting everyone against each other,” she recalled. “We were told we weren’t supposed to do that — meaning like and respect and honor each other.”
As it happened, they met while attending a wedding, and immediately hit it off. “We were just like, ‘Oh my God, we need to meet and cut loose.’ And we did,” she added.
“I think her superpower is that she could very easily be hard, but she’s incredibly open,” Bullock said of her friend. “People want to know about her and understand where she is in life and want her to be happy.”
While Bullock didn’t confirm whether the two dove into some margaritas that night, she did reveal that the hangovers she experienced the next morning was legendary.
“I don’t know what I was sending her,” Aniston said of the drinks they got for each other that evening, “but it was definitely stronger than what she was sending me.”
A ‘Cleaner’ Margarita
In an interview with InStyle (via Today.com), Aniston revealed the recipe for her beloved cocktail, describing it as a “cleaner margarita” that contains just three ingredients.
“No sugar, no mixes, no agave. I don’t like sweet drinks,” she said.
“It’s barely a recipe,” she added. “It’s basically silver tequila with lime juice shaken and over rocks. Some people like a little Cointreau, some don’t.”
