Matthew Perry’s Personal Items Are Heading to Auction — ‘Friends’ Scripts, a Note from Jennifer Aniston and More

When Matthew Perry passed away on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54, the world lost a beloved actor. Now, you can hold onto a piece of the “Friends” star’s life — while also supporting his legacy — by purchasing one of his former possessions, which will soon be put up for auction.

“Heritage Auctions announced The Matthew Perry Estate Auction, a charity auction in partnership with the late actor’s namesake nonprofit organization, The Matthew Perry Foundation, commencing Friday, June 5,” according to People.

The Auction Will Include ‘Friends’ Scripts and More

The Heritage Auctions event will see quite a few of Perry’s former personal items going up for sale. That “includes a range of items Matthew collected and treasured through meaningful chapters of his personal and professional journeys, together offering a thoughtful glimpse into his beloved sense of humor and the passions and influences that shaped him,” People explains.

Among the many special items, 26 “Friends” scripts will be featured in the auction, including ones for episodes you’ll surely remember, such as “The One With Ross’s Tan” and “The One Where Joey Speaks French,” as well as a script for the series finale, “The Last One.”

“There’s also a Friends photo album, titled ‘The One with the Last Supper,’ that includes a letter from ‘Jenny’ [Jennifer Aniston] in the back,” per People. “Other items for auction include a 1995 Screen Actors Guild Award presented to Matthew Perry for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Television Comedy Series, accompanied by two additional nominations, Perry’s personal replica of the iconic yellow peephole frame from Monica’s apartment and a number of art pieces.”

Beyond that, People notes that “Warner Bros. also contributed to the auction, donating a cast-signed ‘Six of One’ pilot script and a cast-signed ‘The Last One, Part I’ script, as well as two tickets to the premiere of The Batman Part II (to be released in 2027), starring Robert Pattinson and directed by Matt Reeves, and a ‘Mattman’ framed 3D portrait with Batman mask from a 2016 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The Auction Will Help Fund ‘Perry’s Most Meaningful Legacy’

“Matthew believed addiction should be met with compassion and science, not stigma and silence,” said Lisa Kasteler Calio, CEO of the Matthew Perry Foundation, via People. “This auction fuels the Foundation’s work to expand access to evidence-based care and confront stigma. It is one more way we ensure that no one has to fight this disease alone.”

People points out the fact that “[n]et proceeds from the auction will advance Perry’s most meaningful legacy: building a future free from addiction stigma, where every person seeking recovery has access to the care, resources, and community they need to thrive.”

“Proceeds will support key Foundation initiatives, including the Matthew Perry Foundation Fellowship in Addiction Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, Grassroots Recovery Grants for frontline organizations, and Healing Appalachia, the nation’s largest recovery-focused sober music festival,” People adds.

The Matthew Perry Estate Auction will be available for in-person previews at Heritage Auctions’ Beverly Hills showroom on Monday, May 18, through Friday, May 29. The auction itself will be both online and in-person at Heritage Auctions’ Dallas showroom on Friday, June 5.
