Matthew Perry’s Resting Place Finally Gets ‘Friends’ Update He Deserves

The final resting place of actor Matthew Perry has been given the kind of recognition the American-Canadian star deserves.

It’s been more than two years since Perry tragically passed away — he was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his home in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, on October 28, 2023 — and, until recently, his wall crypt at the Forest Lawn cemetery in Hollywood Hills was left unmarked, with no name, dates, or any permanent markers on the crypt face (which his family stated was for “privacy reasons”).

Of course, Perry was incredibly popular and most famous for his role as the likeable but sarcastic Chandler Bing on the phenomenally successful sitcom “Friends,” so fans of the beloved star managed to identify it anyway and decorated it with flowers, notes, photographs, and more.

It’s now been adorned with an elegant custom plaque — and the new addition even has a reference to the show that made him a global star.

The Plaque Describes Perry as ‘Much Loved’ and a ‘Friend’

An Instagram user recently took to the popular social media platform to post a photograph of Matthew Perry’s updated resting place. The post is captioned, “The crypt of Matthew Perry has been marked at Forest Lawn Hollywood — forever remembered in the hearts of friends and fans all over the world.”

It shows the new plaque, which reads, “Matthew Langford Perry” along the top. It then shows his lifespan (“August 19, 1969 – October 28, 2023”) before describing him as “Much Loved” and “Friend.” A truly fitting description of the actor in more ways than one.

The post’s comments are full of kind words and tributes to the star, with one user writing, “His passing was the first of a celebrity’s that deeply upset me when the news broke. I still get quite sad when I remember him :/ I hope he’s at peace ❤️.”

Another user wrote, “My heart aches for him like I lost a true friend. His acting got me through some of the darkest times of my life and I only wish that their was something out there that could have gotten him through his like he did for me 😢I will forever miss him.. Be at peace sweet Matthew, you can rest now. ❤️”

Someone else simply said, “An absolute perfect Epitaph.”

Perry Was So Much More Than Just a ‘Friend’

When remembering Matthew Perry, it’s easy to forget he was so much more than a star of “Friends.” That’s not an insult — it’s testament to how iconic he was in his most famous role. However, there really was a lot more to his hugely successful career than the legendary NBC sitcom.

Per IMDb, Perry’s acting career spanned over 40 years and comprised dozens of roles on television, in movies, and on stage. According to Celebrity Net Worth, at the time of his passing, he had amassed a net worth of around $120 million.

On the small screen, in addition to “Friends,” Perry appeared prominently in shows like the sitcom “Second Chance” (later known as “Boys Will Be Boys”), the sitcom “Sydney,” the sitcom “Home Free,” political drama “The West Wing,” the comedy-drama series “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,” legal drama “The Goodwife,” the sitcom “Go On,” the sitcom “The Odd Couple,” and legal drama “The Good Fight.”

On the big screen, his credits include the likes of the 1988 coming-of-age drama “A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon,” the 1997 rom-com “Fools Rush In,” the 1999 rom-com “Three to Tango,” the 2000 crime comedy “The Whole Nine Yards” and its 2004 sequel “The Whole Ten Yards,” and the 2009 teen fantasy comedy “17 Again.”

His stage credits include the plays “Sexual Perversity in Chicago” and “The End of Longing.”

To millions worldwide, however, he is and always will be Chandler Muriel Bing — and it really is lovely to see his grave adorned with something so fitting.

May Matthew Perry rest in eternal peace.
