Cameron Mathison & Candace Cameron Bure’s New BTS Video Gives Fans a Holiday Treat

Let’s be real; there’s something extra epic about a Christmas movie that knows exactly what it is and doesn’t try to pretend otherwise. That’s the energy Cameron Mathison and Candace Cameron Bure are bringing with “Another Sweet Christmas,” and fans are absolutely eating it up.

In a joint Instagram post shared by the Great American Family Pure Flix account, the longtime holiday favorites invite viewers behind the scenes of their latest festive movie, offering a cozy, cheerful look at the set, the concept, and a few surprises along the way.

The film (which premiered on December 20, 2025), and serves as the sequel to 2024’s “Home Sweet Christmas,” does something a bit different. Instead of playing it safe and just continuing the story normally, this one leans into a clever twist that feels both playful and smart. And yep, you can feel the fun through the screen.

A Very Meta Christmas Movie Moment

The behind-the-scenes post (seen below) walks fans through what makes “Another Sweet Christmas” a little different from your standard holiday romance. This time around, Sophie and Sam’s love story is literally being turned into a Christmas movie (per the official synopsis)… meaning the production chaos isn’t something to hide, it’s part of the story.

Mathison explains it directly in the video, saying, “So we have 2 actors that are playing Sophie and Sam. And we’re the real Sophie and Sam.”

That creative choice by Great American Family opens the door for a more relaxed, yet ironic filming style. As Mathison puts it, “Normally we have to hide the production trucks. Normally we have to hide like whatever it is but if you shoot over here this is all hot. This is all part of the set. It’s no problem if we get stuff in the scene because we’re making a movie.”

Honestly? That’s kind of genius. It gives the sequel its own identity while still keeping everything warm, festive, and familiar. The set tour shows off trailers, filming spaces, and that bustling holiday atmosphere that makes Waynesbridge, Washington feel like the kind of town you’d absolutely want to spend Christmas in (fictional or not).

And then comes the moment that truly seals the deal. After Mathison notes how long days on set can get exhausting, Bure jumps in with peak holiday relatability. “And we need a little pick-me-up.”

Enter the on-set dog, aka the real star of the production. Mathison continues, “And so we come over here to our on-set mascot… And he just makes the spirit builder. And again, he’ll be in the movie. Like, if he’s in the background of a shot, that’s no problem.”

A Christmas movie, a movie-within-a-movie, and a dog cameo? We’re here for it.

Fans Are Obsessed With Cameron & Candace

And if there was any doubt about how this sequel landed, the comment section clears that right up. Fans flooded the post with praise, rewatches, and some very strong feelings about Mathison and Bure’s chemistry.

“This is such a great movie!” one fan wrote, while another added, “Fabulous movie. 😍❤️.” And a third popped in to say: “I absolutely love this movie !! I am watching it for the 2nd time right now from my DVR,♥️♥️”

The comments seemed to be pointing out what longtime viewers already know; the pairing just works. One fan summed it up perfectly: “Such a beautiful movie Cameron and Candace have amazing chemistry together. I can’t wait to see the 3rd movie next year. I think it would be amazing if it was turned into a series.”

And Ready for the Next Chapter

Here’s where it gets even better. That third movie? It’s already happening. Great American Family has confirmed that “A Sweet Christmas Anniversary” is planned for 2026. According to Bill Abbott, President & CEO of Great American Media, the next chapter will focus on how Sophie and Sam’s relationship continues to grow:

“With the third chapter of Sam and Sophie’s story, we want to capture how love evolves – how it deepens, challenges, and ultimately, strengthens the bond between two people. Sophie and Sam’s journey continues to grow with our audience, and the threequel lets us explore the heart of their love story with greater warmth and depth.”

And based on the behind-the-scenes joy, the fan response, plus what’s already lined up next, it seems like this Christmas franchise isn’t slowing down anytime soon; and honestly, that’s exactly how we want it. See you in 2026!
