Hallmark star Jodie Sweetin is opening up about a “Full House” tradition that has changed since the death of Bob Saget.
Sweetin, who played Stephanie Tanner on the beloved ABC sitcom, revealed that the cast’s group text has become noticeably quieter since Saget died in January 2022.
The actress discussed the cast’s ongoing connection during an interview with SheKnows published Tuesday, Aug. 25.

“The Full House group chat is very quiet now that Bob’s gone,” Sweetin, 44, said. “He was always one of the first to say happy birthday, or the first to start planning something.”
Saget played Danny Tanner, the widowed father at the center of “Full House,” which originally aired from 1987 to 1995.
The former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant played his middle daughter, Stephanie, while Candace Cameron Bure portrayed eldest daughter D.J. Tanner and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen shared the role of youngest daughter Michelle.
The sitcom also starred John Stamos as Jesse Katsopolis, Dave Coulier as Joey Gladstone and Lori Loughlin as Rebecca Donaldson.
Although Saget is no longer there, Sweetin said the former cast members continue to spend time together and keep his memory alive.
“Every time we get together, there’s always a moment when we’re like, ‘Bob should be here,’” she told SheKnows. “It does break your heart when you get everybody together and there’s one person missing.”
Sweetin added that she appreciates how often the cast still talks about their late costar.
“I just love the fact that we constantly talk about Bob, and I’m sure he would love that too because he loved the attention,” she said.
Saget died at age 65 on Jan. 9, 2022. He was found unresponsive in his hotel room at The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes in Florida. Authorities later determined that he had suffered blunt head trauma from an unwitnessed fall.
The Cast Reunited for a Con
For the “Full House” cast, his death marked the loss of one of the central figures from their television family.
The remaining stars have continued to reunite over the years. In August, Sweetin, Stamos, Loughlin, Coulier and Andrea Barber came together at The Nostalgia Con in Orlando, Florida.
Barber, who played Kimmy Gibbler, was not part of the original main family but became one of the show’s most recognizable characters.
Sweetin and Stamos also recently gave fans a playful “Full House” throwback on Instagram. The two wore matching blue sweatsuits while performing choreography to Taylor Swift’s “Opalite.”
Text over the video read, “If Uncle Jesse and Stephanie Tanner had social media today.”
Stamos, 62, kept his caption simple: “I’d follow them.”
The lighthearted reunion offered fans a reminder of the longtime bond between the actors, while Sweetin’s latest comments showed how deeply Saget’s absence is still felt.
Nearly four decades after “Full House” first introduced viewers to the Tanner family, the cast continues to find reasons to reconnect. But for Sweetin, those gatherings also carry a bittersweet reminder that someone important will always be missing.
