Drew & Jonathan Scott Push For Alzheimer’s Cure in Iconic ‘Hacks’ Cameo

Property Brothers” stars Drew and Jonathan Scott are primarily known for their gigs on HGTV. However, the twins have started branching out and exploring other walks of life lately.

While Jonathan Scott recently received a Social Impact Award for his work in the aftermath of the Palisades fires, Drew Scott has been fine-tuning his acting chops.

Recently, “Property” brothers fans received a pleasant surprise when they saw the Scott twins make a cameo on the series, “Hacks.”

HGTV Icons Drew & Jonathan Scott Join the cast of ‘Hacks’

Drew Scott recently had a guest role on “Murdoch Mysteries,” but it seems his brother Jonathan is eager to join in the fun. The twins joined the cast of “Hacks” in a season 5 episode.

“Hacks” follows Deborah Vance, a comedienne in Las Vegas, in danger of losing her residency. She teams up with Ava Daniels, an aspiring comedic writer who has a poor reputation in the industry.

In a new episode, Deborah Vance and her daughter, DJ, participate in “The Amazing Race.” Among their competitors are the Scott Brothers. While the HGTV stars have noble ambitions in mind, Deborah Vance’s motives are a little more shallow.

“We’re going to be donating our prize money to the Alzheimer’s Association,” Drew shares in the clip.

“We have a family member who died from Alzheimer’s. So we’re going on this journey for the patients and doctors who are running the much harder race, the one for a cure,” Jonathan adds.

The host then turns to the Vances and asks why they’ve chosen to come on the journey.

“I’m here to promote my comeback show at Madison Square Garden on September 11!” the character Deborah boldly declares.

Drew and Jonathan Scott felt elated about their “Hacks” appearance.

“Did you catch us on @hacks last night?! We’ve been training for this role since we were 8 🤡” Drew posed on Instagram, attaching several hilarious behind-the-scenes images from filming.

“A nice surprise! Congrats on being on such a great show,” one viewer wrote in the comments.

Although the Scott brothers didn’t disclose which of their family members passed from Alzheimer’s, their entire family remain very passionate about raising awareness about diseases.

In 2019, the twins’ older brother, J.D. Scott, bravely opened up about his fight against a mysterious illness.

“It began with a type of brain fog that would set in from time to time which made things just a little hazy,” he told PEOPLE at the time. “Not enough that I couldn’t function, but enough to be annoying. At the time, I did have that checked out and ran a bunch of tests with a neurologist but he ended telling me that I didn’t need to worry because it was allergies.”

J.D. became sicker as time went on. He noted that he began feeling better after eliminating sugar from his diet, but understands the illness may return someday. Ultimately, his care team decided an autoimmune disease was most likely responsible for his health issues.

“There has been a rheumatologist, a radiologist, three neurologists, a neurosurgeon, an ophthalmologist, countless vials of blood, a half dozen MRI’s, an MRA, an EEG and during one blood draw they took 25 vials on that day alone,” the Scott brother continued. “I was at the point where any travel would set off the symptoms, or even just being in temperatures over 70 degrees. I would pass out pretty much wherever I was and it didn’t matter if I was in public, at dinner or at home, once it started I would be down and out for hours, if not days. There were many moments that felt like the end of the line.”

“Hacks” is available to stream on HBO Max.
