Drew Scott Lives Out His Childhood Dreams in Exciting Acting Role

Jonathan and Drew Scott might have become household names due to their starring role on HGTV, but the brothers have other ambitions as well.

These days, Drew Scott is having a blast exploring his love for acting. He made his “Murdoch Mysteries” debut this week and had the time of his life.

Now, the “Property Brothers” star is expressing gratitude for the team that helped make some of his childhood dreams come true.

Drew Scott Fell in Love With Acting as a Child

During the “Murdoch Mysteries” season 19 finale this week, HGTV icon Drew Scott appeared as Cecil Winchester. He described the character as “charming and a little dangerous” in an official statement.

Viewers might know Drew for his real estate expertise, but he always wanted to be an actor deep down.

“Acting has always been my first love, and I’m excited for people to see a different side of me,” the 47-year-old told PEOPLE ahead of his “Murdoch Mysteries” cameo.

Now that fans have seen his guest appearance, he’s expressing gratitude for everyone that made it possible.

“You never know where life takes you. I was in musical theater as a kid, studied acting as a young adult and then shifted into hosting for almost 20 years,” Drew Scott shared in a new Instagram post.

“When the chance came to guest star as Cecil Winchester on @cbcmurdoch with my good [friend] @yannick_bisson, I said yes before they finished the sentence!” he continued. “This role pushed me in ways I didn’t expect and reminded me why I fell in love with acting in the first place. Thank you to the cast and crew who made me feel at home from day one.”

“We had such a grand time with you Drew! 🕵🏻‍♂️🎬” the official “Murdoch Mysteries” account replied in the comments.

The HGTV Star Once Worked on ‘Smallville’

In a 2020 interview with PEOPLE, Drew Scott revealed that he had a small role for the hit series, “Smallville.” He landed the role as Tom Welling’s body double for certain scenes.

“It was great. It was a little side thing,” the “Property Brothers” star explained. “I was pursuing acting back in the day and between gigs a friend of mine who was the stand-in for the character Lex Luther, said, ‘Hey we need a fill to do some stand-in and some photo doubling for Superman,’ and I’m like, ‘And you’re looking at me?’ So that was just a fun gig I did a little bit of.”

Fans can’t wait to see where Drew Scott’s acting career goes next.

New episodes of “Property Brothers: Under Pressure” air at 9 p.m. on HGTV.
