‘Property Brothers’ Test Viral Mayonnaise Hack in Comical Home Video: WATCH

The “Property Brothers” know a thing or two about simple DIY hacks that will help to turn a mess into a masterpiece.

In a video shared to the “Property Brothers” Instagram, HGTV stars Jonathan Scott and Drew Scott tested the viral crayon removal hack.

After drawing on a white wall with a blue crayon, the twin brothers tested both mayonnaise and toothpaste to see which product was able to erase the crayon from the wall.

‘Property Brothers’ Test Viral Mayonnaise Hack

By using a paper towel as an applicator, Jonathan scrubbed a scoop of mayonnaise onto the wall to see if it would get rid of the blue color. To their shock, the hack did not work.

When they tested the toothpaste, the HGTV stars used a toothbrush to apply the product to the wall. Shockingly enough, the toothpaste did in fact erase the crayon off of the wall.

They again tested the mayo, though, after realizing that the abrasiveness of the toothbrush bristles might have impacted the effect of the toothpaste.

“No, it’s still total crap,” Jonathan joked after seeing that the slight alteration didn’t help to erase the color from the wall.

The “Property Brothers” asked that their fans share their own hacks in the comments of the video, leading to plenty of additional tips to try when faced with life’s unexpected moments.

“Eggshells or sea salt to clean the bottom of a burned coffee carate…eggshells and a little bit of water, just swirl around and they pick off the burned bits. It really works!” suggested one.

“My kid got permanent marker on everything and I used hairspray and a rag,” said another.

“Hand sanitizer it removes permanent felt pen,” recommended a third.

“My freshman year of college we decided to keep track of whether or not Ruthie from 7th Heaven wore her hair curly or straight. We did this on our wall with marker. Long story short, toothpaste,” recalled another, who coincidentally ran into the same issue as the HGTV stars.

Jonathan Scott Accepts Social Impact Award

In addition to the HGTV stars filming helpful DIY hacks from their own homes, they are also starring in their new spinoff show “Property Brothers: Under Pressure.” The series features 14 episodes that focus on helping buyers navigate high-stakes real estate markets and renovations. The show will continue airing through June 16, with new episodes every Sunday at 9/8c.

Meanwhile, Jonathan of the “Property Brothers” just won the Social Impact Award at the annual Napa Valley Streamfest. The adored HGTV star was awarded the honor for his work with Habitat for Humanity after the Palisades fire, as well as his documentary “Jonathan Scott’s Power Trip,” where he testified to the U.S. Senate Climate Change Task Force in 2022 after investigating “renewable energy and the struggle to make it more available to families across the United States,” according to the Milken Institute.

Jonathan proudly shared his special moment with his fans on April 30 by posting photos on Instagram of himself accepting the award. In the caption, the HGTV star wrote, “Thank you @napavalleystreamfest for the Social Impact Award. I’m humbled and honored. Also…swipe for proof that fun was had 😄.”
